Hey /o/. Have a dumb question.
I bought a Buick Electra 1989 State Wagon cheap recently. I'm doing some work on the engine and I don't know what the circled items are for. Pic related. Will have closeups.

I guessed this but I figured there was a more technical term for it.

Testicles IS the technical term

That is your vacuum reservoir.
>>
>>14109405
The vacuum reservoir allows the vacuum levels to remain stable. Many things in this Buick like cruise control (if equipped) and climate control are assisted by the reservoir.
>>
>>14109581
This. So they literally hold nothing. Just take them off, vacuum deletes were a common thing back in the day for a little extra HP.
>>
>>14109589
I honesty can't think of any logical reason that boost horse power. Sounds like snake oil.
>>
>>14109589
DO NOT REMOVE THEM. The extra vacuum built up in them is necessary for certain functions in the car to work. If it works, dont mess with it. If you need to replace the lines, do that, but don't start capping off and removing things.

My car's PO did a vacuum delete, fucked everything up which let me get it cheap, and I had to put it all back to fix it. It was running full rich which killed the cat because the fuel injection system was pancaking due to the lack of vacuum.

most old cars have one.
in my cherokee it was literally inside the front bumper. in my rabbit its factory bungee cord to the hood. FACTORY.

Holy fuck. You triggered my autism cringe with those pliers on the battery just mms away from the positive terminal
>>
>>14110878
why they arent touching either terminal
esplain
>>
>>14110878
Now your triggering mine. They would have to contact both terminals or the positive terminal and a ground. Pretty hard to do with rubber coated handles.
>>
>>14110885
Yeah right this second. Accidentally bump them and they spin and ground out on the rad support.
>>
>>14110898
i dont think so. that black thing is the hood release cable, and its rubbing the neg post so im not worried.
>>
>>14110904
My point is just put them somewhere else. If you get in the habit of setting shit on the battery eventually you will fuck up and set a wrench or something uninsulated and do some unintentional welding.
