>1995 to 2010
>2 or 3 doors w/FR layout ideal but not required
>well handling, not too pigfat, fun to drive
>manual transmission
>available under 25k at 120,000km or less
>not crazy expensive to maintain/insure/fuel
>usable as winter DD

I was mainly considering financing new cars like the FiST/BRZ/Genesis/WRX/370Z before, but I smartened up and realized buying new cars was a terrible idea. I also realized I don't need or want most modern gizmos besides heated seats, since navigation and bluetooth can be done with a headset and phone clamp.

Under those limitations, I've been looking at cars like the BMW 135i/335i, Porsche 986/987C/996, and Nissan R33/R34. But these will probably come with high maintenance, insurance, or both.

I got into cars a bit late so I never really became attached to anything affordable within that time period. What other cars should I look into, /o/?

Just get a E39 530 instead of any of that shit. The 1 and 3 will look a little small if you're a guy (and not a manlet). Snag a E39 M5 if you want something a little cooler.

Considered an ST205 Celica? You could get a really nice example for much less than 25k, and it fits all your requirements. I'm assuming you're Canadian so you'd have to import a JDM one. What province? Insurance for JDM cars in BC is pretty fine and maintenance wouldn't be too bad, there's lots of shops that work on these cars and can get parts easily.

Alberta, though I'll be part of the Air Force by next year and I won't know which base I'm posted to.

Not big on the looks of the ST205, at least at the front.

Any examples that aren't BMW's? Don't have a problem with any of them, it's just that they're pretty clear options that always get suggested.

Not BMWs, huh? How about one of these deals? I had one and it was pretty sweet. And look at all that cargo space! And that stock rear spoiler! FF though.

If you're into it, you could also probably snag a mid-2000s Evo or STI in your price range. I personally hate them, but everybody I've talked to who owns one seems to be a huge fan.
>>
>>14101033
I like STI's, never got into Evo's. What's the difference between them?
>>
>>14101040
STIs blow headgaskets, Evos blow up every so often.
>>
>>14101048
This seems to happen to the people I know who own one. I assumed it was because they were morons and fucked their shit up.

Canuckistan, Albertiraq.

Unless you're suggesting he imports one of those here.

>>14101061
Nah, I'm memeing. Should be fine if you take proper care of them.

Calgary, to be exact. Probably won't be buying until I'm at my first posting so I can get those sweet mil benefits and have a good idea of my income. 25k is just a guess of what I'll be able to afford, and half of my starting annual income.
>>
>>14101040
jesus, that's a loaded question, and it depends who you ask. basically they can both be pretty good cars but like many performance cars people often abuse them regularly and maintain them poorly. anything you buy should be thoroughly checked out first.

How is the W30 MR2 and 300ZX? The RX-7 FD mitebcool but I heard they're maintenance heavy and I've always just got the dealer to do it.
