Bait, but I'll bite.
Why not take it a step further.
> having anything other than an electric car
First off, I own a 2006 Mazdaspeed6 and my DD. And while I can get good mileage with it, around 32mpg, I can also get shit gas mileage when having fun with it. Ask any WRX or Evo owner how good of gas mileage they get.
Also, nothing beats the sound of my DOHC V8 and the feel of raw, instantaneous power that comes from it.

Hot Rod tested a STi Vs a Cobra, the STi was quicker but the Cobra got better fuel economy. Funny world we live in nowadays.

It was only quicker around Willow by what... .2 sec? But, at the time both of those cars were competing with the M3 back then. It really was when Subaru and Ford decided to go big or go home with their cars and finally made all out track cars. Just shows you how good these two companies can make a track car when they really wanted to.
Hell, the STi back then is keeping up with te STi now. And the Cobra back then keeps up with the Boss 302. Which to this day are giving the M3's a run for their money around a course.
