90's Honda product with adjustable coilovers, sway bars and chassis bracing.

Just learn to chassis tuning
>>
>>14089299
not in america sorry
>>14089310
is there something better to work off of then an econobox? america never got the good hondas
>>
>>14089317
Okay then,

Miata
CRX
Sentra SE-R
Integra
Etc, etc

If you want cheap you're gonna be stuck with econobox. The Miata is the best actual 'Sports Car' that can be had for cheap. Otherwise, Just get a shitbox and install some new suspension bits, register on the appropriate forum, and have enough intelligence to learn how to tune the suspension setup on your particular vehicle. If you're compitent at that, you should be able to get something thats relatively cheap and can turn gud.
>>
>>14089330
no
i dont want a shitbox
no car i buy will ever be a shitbox
because its mine forever and ever
sentra se -r , crx and integra are pretty rare
miatas are hard to find here too

You are gonna want a car around 2400-2700lbs for the touge. Anything heavier isn't gonna be as nimble. Anyone who says otherwise runs their cars on sweepers and not tight hairpin switchbacks in a row.

If you live in America and want RWD you have 2 cheap choices.

MX-5, MR-S, or Boxster.
>>
>>14089332
Well then get ready to bust out some money for something like a WRX, Supra, Skyline, Evo, etc. etc.
>>
>>14089339
why
>>
>>14089317
The "shitty" Hondas are still better than any option mentioned here >>14089330
Except for the Miata. And 90% of what makes a Type R special can be added later down the line, except for the additional spot welds and thicker strut tower sheet metal (none of which really make a difference over a standard Civic/Integra unless you're determined to be the fastest FWD car around). 1990s Hondas are the best car around because no other cheap shitbox has the combination of decent suspension setup/geometry + lightweight + Lego interchangability with millions of other Hondas like it and aftermarket that has options for Aliexpress eBay shit to $2000/corner Penske/JRZ coilovers for one car

Your options are literally:

Miata
90s Civic/Integra
E30/E36 BMW
Newer Sport Compact (WRX/SRT4/RX8)

Literally everything else will be too old, beat to shit and impossible to find, or shitty for some reason.

Also touge racing is fake and gay get a motorcycle at least you won't kill someone else when you crash.

If you want Honda FF, get a civic hatch or Integra. Prelude is extremely unbalanced shit.

Yeah you know what how about you take that money and get a CBR600F4i/SV650.

>>14089404
Actually a decent option, forgot. But getting old and remaining examples bought out by drift kiddies

>>14089405
God you're fucking stupid. There's a reason why only morons build preludes. They're too fat to be any good and all the good bits can be added onto a 400-500lb lighter Civic. It's a memecar.

Yeah, what about aftermarket? Find one that isn't beat to shit and rusting out? Swapping anything other than those disgrace of a motors they put in them?

Buller...Buller...Buller?

There's a reason why the only people who stuck with them were diehard fans of the car. Don't reinvent the wheel with Hondas. They're 25-30 year old cars at this point. Everything has been done, documented, etc on Honda-Tech or nwp4life at some point. Get a 3rd Gen Prelude if you're a diehard fan of it, get a 88-00 Civic/90-01 Integra if you have half a brain and want to save valuable time and effort.

>>14089433
>1980s Toyotas don't rust

>>14089473
Alright, go do it then. Eventually you'll give up on trying to make a pig fly and switch to a lighter, cheaper car with a more developed aftermarket and knowledgebase.

Like I said, everything's already been documented. The lightest you can reasonably get a 4th/5th Gen Prelude is 2500-2600lbs. I've seen B-Series EF/EGs come in at 2100-2200lbs. I know its hard to wrap your head around it but 300-500lbs is a lot of weight. That's 300-500lbs more the car is carrying, the suspension is dealing with, 300-500lbs more it has to stop, etc. They're uncompetitive cars. Just because they did well in a magazine article does not make them good time attack cars. Even in spec series that favor them (Think Honda Challenge) they're not used.

Good luck Anon!

>>14089487
They made what? 20-30 Civics and Integras for every Prelude? I have a feeling I'm right.
>>
>>14089511
but the preludes ARE lighter if not the same weight as those cars you suggested
Civics and Integras in good condition? Impossible those are just FUCKED thats like trying to find a clean 240sx
except at the end of the day the civic is an econobox
Integras are even more fucked up
the prelude is actually built for sportiness from the get go

Most of my post might be bullshit I heard on the internet, but I'll tell you what I have learned. The 3rd gen prelude was recognized as the best handling car for its time because of its 4wheel mechanical steering system. A little while later, the miata is released and steals title for best handling car. It's nimble and very easy to steer. Like a go-kart I suppose. If you don't like miatas that's cool; buy a Civic or an Integra. Whatever you do end up buying, realize that it is not the wrong car, just not the perfect car, and that's what makes it the right car.
>>
>>14089594

EFF YOU
>>
>>14089532
Buy a Automatic Civic/Integra and swap it over. Not difficult. These cars are made for literal retards. I live in New Jersey and I can find them all day (we have the most Puerto Ricans and Dominicans per capita) unmolested and cheap. Rust kills them way more.

And again, the Prelude is just a 5-Lug 90s Accord with a H22. ATTS is garbage compared to a actual Helical LSD (why do you think Honda used them on the Rs?).

Guess what you can do? Put literally everything that makes it "sportier" onto a Civic! It's magic! The H22 (if you want that heavy pos), bigger brakes, etc. And it's a physically smaller and lighter car.

The difference between you and me is that I've built these cars as actual race cars and you've only read the stupid H-G thread.

>>14089594
This is all literally info from Car & Driver's Best Handling Car under $30,000. Which dealt with stock cars. The Prelude is fine as a stock car. You are not buying one and keeping it stock. Unless you're playing Forza or something.
>>
>>14089299
>Not in merika.

S2k is pricey but gud. Miat, handuh or a toyobaru (also pricey) but should last long enough if you don't act a fool.
>>
>>14089638

>rust
again, never seen a rusted car
the prelude is the same weight and has a better chassis than the civic, why are you such an autist
>>
>>14089310

is a 1985 aw11 good?
>>
>>14089754
Proof a 4th/5th Gen can get down to 2100-2200lbs before you start cutting out inner fenders, removing dashes, and taking out glass? I'll be patiently waiting.

3rd Gen isn't even in the discussion because its fucking shit you goddamn autist. You can't do shit with those motors and swapping anything other than a pos B20/B21 is a struggle and a half.

Like I said, don't try to reinvent the wheel. 90% of the cars in a Honda Challenge, VTEC Club, etc Paddock will be either a S2000 or some flavor of Civic/Integra.
>>
>>14089754
To add, find a Automatic then. I'll be very surprised if you can't find a Auto Civic/Integra in good shape cheap. Nothings stopping you from swapping it over to manual, its ridiculously easy.
>>
>>14089800
>3rd gen doesnt count
thats literally what we've been discussing this entire time

mazda 3
>>
>>14089810
It's shit. You don't see any on racetracks for a reason. No backwards compatibility with most other Hondas. Literally no aftermarket either. Fuck, I doubt you can even find OEM parts for them, what are you gonna do when your dizzy shits out 3 hours away? And forget about adding power. Those engines are total garbage and swapping a B/H/K is a ordeal.

It's a 4chan meme car. You don't see them on racetracks, they're low energy they never won any races. It's a car for losers.

ff's are cheaper and lighter than fr's
light cars without super torquey engines don't really have much torque steer either, so they're great for the togue. i used to have such a blast in the mountains with my mazda 3.

Alright find me even a amateur backed effort for these cars. There's no R&D for them. No aftermarket. They're difficult to work on and hard to find parts for. I can find a B-Series VTEC distributor at 90% of the Autozones and AdvanceAuto/Carquests across America, the remaining 10% can get them the next day. Same with literally every other suspension bit. I can get AliExpress subframe braces and $4000/set Penske Coilovers.

I'm not even touching on the miserable 140-150hp the B21 makes, all while most are burning oil like a Gulf War Iraqi Oil Field. There's Single Cams that make more power bone stock. Even a $300 B18 or CRV B20 will make more power.

Honestly why even bother? Just get a Miata. You're trying to reinvent the wheel forgetting these are 25+ year old cars. If they were as good as you claimed the questions im asking wouldve answered themselves. Just because it did well in a magazine article in 1989 doesn't mean it'll do well in 2015 against 2015 standards.
