I want a wagon for about $20,000. The Audi A4 ('09-'12) ranks highly but I'm concerned about maintenance and reliability. Anyone have any input? Subaru's are too SUV for me while I think the CTS is cool but it is ugly as sin. The BMW I don't know much about. The Acura is fwd and underpowered.
Or should I get a new Golf Sport Wagon?

The B8 A4 is one of the A4s with the least problems. I don't know what engine you're looking at, I've only owned the 2.0tdi. But I've owned two of them, and neither has had any major flaws. Maintainence is as with any car, you change oil and all the filters every 18k miles or so, and if you get a quattro you'll have to replace the oil for the awd system too (atleast if its haldex based) Timing belt has to be changed at 120k miles or so, or when the car is 7 years old.
Anyways OP, im happy to see you're considering an A4 wagon. A4 sedans look like shit and have a droopy butt compared.
Pic related, my A4 wagon

do it faggot. i don't know about the B8 but you might need to replace coil packs at some point, pretty standard failure, costs about $20 per pack and 5 minutes to fix.

i am nearing 120k HARD miles on mine, bought it with 75k. electronics work great, interior is great, always get compliments on it when i'm giving someone a ride. no major failures, have had to replace coilpacks maybe 3 times? would recommend looking into it further.

Mine has about 90k miles on it right now. Mind these things use a little more oil than what other cars use, both the diesels and gas engines. Its not like they're drinking oil, but having a quarter gallon of oil in the car with you comes in handy. From bottom to top marking on the oil level its about 0.15 gallons of oil.
Why are you limiting yourself to 08 or newer? Old Subaru wagons are GOAT.

Haha even my b5 chugs oil. I'm used to it.

Glad to hear that!! I got mine at 100k and expected nightmare mode but at 130k now it's been pretty great just above average pricing on things. Glad to know b8s are similar
