>tfw you get off your P's and you can't drive your car anymore cause you'll look like a retard
>>14077832
m8 there's nothing wrong with that, looks clean.
will blend in with other sedans, make it into a sleeper
>>14077832
>get off your P's
am I retarded or is this a common phrase?
>>14077920
Common phrase in Australia.
>>14077926
meaning what in american?
>>14077926
what does it mean?
>>14077936
>>14077939
Ps is short for P-Plate which is a probationary drivers license in Australia. Power restrictions (in most states) and things like that for new drivers.
In this case I assume OP has an NA car.
>>14077936
>>14077939
it's like a learners permit, but they're not allowed to drive good cars
i bet you those wheels & tires cost about $600-800. Source: I did what you did. Discount Tire FTW!!!!
>>14077950
>power restrictions
>America
Mate...
>>14077907
Cheers man, looking at an STi though. Same year, want it to be wingless as well
>>14077936
>>14077939
P's = probationary license
When you're on your P's there are restrictions on what cars you can drive based on a the power-to-weight ratio.
>>14077832
>black car
>black wheels
gross
>>14077958
Tried a used tyre place? Sounds dodgy as fuck when you say it out loud but they're usually top notch.
Got a set of new tyres for my old car for under $200 at the one in Adelaide.
>>14077962
It was mainly because of a tiny margin of teenagers driving Silvias and Skylines like assholes. Isn't a big deal over all though, the restrictions are pretty generous.
>>14077969
>Power-to-weight
How is that system? I had my Ps on the original system (list of approved and non-approved cars). Friend couldn't drive his Dad's MX-5 because it was a "high performance car", but could drive my 328i that made 50% more power.
>>14077969
Thats cool, in america we get flouride in our water to dumb down the public so they buy pleb cars.
>>14077986
Ty m8
>>14078000
I'm honestly not too sure, only thing I can think of is the MX5 is a lot lighter than the BMW? But that being said they've recently made adjustments to the law so P platers can drive turbo cars, if they fit certain criteria. He should be able to drive it now - I've seen a few drive the new 2015 WRX's
>>14077958
My wheels cost me $400 off gumtree, three years ago
>>14078001
>in america we get flouride in our water to dumb down the public
>>14078054
>only thing I can think of is the MX5 is a lot lighter than the BMW?
I forget the exact years, but it wasn't a huge weight difference, 100-150kg if I recall. BMW was making a solid 70-80hp more though, and had a lot more low end grunt.
>they've recently made adjustments to the law so P platers can drive turbo cars
Depends on the state. In SA if I recall anything pre-2010 is still just a blanket turbo = high performance ban.
>He should be able to drive it now
We've both been full license for awhile now so it doesn't matter now. There was a period of about three months where I had an open motorcycle license, but had P2s. I could ride a motorcycle that could do 0-100 in 2.5 seconds, but god forbid I get in a car with more than six cylinders.
Amusingly, the car I drive now has about 60hp, although I've been thinking about buying an RX-7.
>>14078124
It's so bad, driving a car that isn't even quick and paying ridiculous amounts for insurance.
>I've been thinking about buying an RX-7
I was too, I wanted an FD pretty badly, but I need something that I can DD and I've heard so much shit when it comes to rotary maintainence. That's why I'm leaning towards another Subaru.
>>14078236
I'm probably going to buy an FC and look at doing an NA 20B build. I'm not in any rush and I daily my motorcycle.
>>14078088
Well he probably drinks from the tap so yeah.
>>14078258
>tfw some guy in my area owns an FC identical to Ryosuke's
>>14077950
They're especially retarded in QLD. Power-to-weight isn't retroactive, only counts from 2010 onwards. If you can get your hands on a Lotus Elise or Honda NSX you can drive one on your P's.
>>14079223
I thought there weren't any power restrictions in QLD..? Or it might've been WA
>>14079381
Yeah it'd be WA. QLD is on par with NSW in terms of anti hoon/restrictions
>>14079223
>>14079381
>>14079392
SA is pretty lax once you're on a full license. No annual inspections make it a lot easier to get away with stuff too.
I know if I end up doing >>14078258 it shouldn't be a big deal registering it. It's considered a 4L NA which is within 5x a vehicles gross weight.
>>14079392
Restrictions are so shit, the generation before me could drive turbos, and the ones after me are eligible for certain turbo cars.
>>14079525
The list was more generous than the new laws. Were plenty of good loopholes. E36 328i, SV6 and those Infiniti (Infinity?) Skylines were all legal.
>>14079531
You could drive the Infiniti sedan but the V35 coupe was banned. You could drive decent cars (like the SV6, XR6, NA Supra/Skyline, etc.) but these days they can drive the same cars plus cars like WRX's ... Which can't compare to the old list, in my opinion.
>>14078000
>Silvias and Skylines like assholes
>power
kek
fuckin kek
jesus christ, they aren't powerful at all. Maybe if they were putting down 400+ to the wheels
How long do you have P plates?
>>14079673
They aren't necessarily 'powerful' but they're still faster than most cars you see on the street. I can't that's what he's getting at.
>>14079673
You're eligible for your red P's when you turn 18, you stay on them for a year, and then do three years on Green P's
does anyone know if you need a reason to apply for a moderately powered vehicle exemption, particularly in qld?
God Australia sounds like shit. I'm so glad my parents moved us to America from Europe, we were <--> this close to moving to Australia. Over here I can carry a gun and drive any car I can afford.
>>14079745
implying living in a country full of niggers and guns is a good thing, try harder anon. You moved from paradise into a shithole
>>14077832
im planning on a gtr once im off my p roos
>>14079754
>paradise
>car gets impounded and crushed after you go 1mph over or chirp tires taking off
>>14079525
>and the ones after me are eligible for certain turbo cars.
Green P fag here with 2 years to go. Got my license at 19 :(
The turbo new rule shit only applies for 4wds and a few shitty hatches
but if they fucking change the rules a few years after im off my ps ill be mad.
4 years of underpowered shit. already a better driver than 99% of cunts
>>14079772
in yurope?
>>14079745
>Over here I can carry a gun
the thing is, you dont need one in yurop or australia
>>14079792
>You don't need a gun in the land of drop bears or the land of muslims, gypsies, and slavs.
>>14079788
>ausfailia
no one actually drives in europe
>>14079804
What's a drop bear?
>>14079804
>this delusional
>>14079804
you dont though, thats what non corrupt police are for anon :-)
>>14079817
when I said paradise I meant europe, ausfailia isnt the best but its shit loads better than murica
>>14079819
It's like a regular bear, but it drops from trees to attack you.
>>14079828
Oh shit nigga, that sounds terrible
>>14079820
Great rebuttal, m8.
>>14079826
>We don't need guns! Look at how nice our friendly government soldiers are who enforce that law!
>>14079834
>>14079819
Don't mess with drop bears, m8.
>>14079777
IKTFB, for the past three years I've been getting rekt by V8s and cars with Turbos. Tfw a few days back a milf in a Maloo wanted to race, and 15 mins later some dude in a C63 kept doing highway pulls next to me. And not to mention all the cop trouble you get with this slow fucking car.
>>14079769
Which one m8
>>14079688
In QLD you can get your red P's at 17, have them for one year then go to green P's for two years.
>>14079846
Our cops can be pricks when it comes to car modifications, but they aren't corrupt like Americuck cops. Australia isn't a country that's shit enough for you to need a gun to protect yourself.
>>14079865
this
>>14079865
>>14079871
Which is why guns were fairly legal there up until 1996?
>>14079673
Do you see the part in my post where I talked about power? I didn't. That's where the restrictions came from though. A small group of people wrapping cars around trees.
The restrictions were a knee jerk reaction. People who drive like that will drive that way in anything.
>>14079772
>implying this is a thing outside of Victoria
>>14079777
>but if they fucking change the rules a few years after im off my ps ill be mad.
Who cares if you have a full license anyway. Don't count on the restrictions going away anytime soon. Anyone who quotes crash statistics that show they don't do anything will get a response like, "OH SO YOU LIKE RUNNING DOWN CHILDREN DO YOU?".
>>14079846
>>14079875
The gun thing really isn't an issue in Australia. The gun laws are a bit hilarious at times, but realistically the result is you'll almost never get a gun pulled on you anywhere, ever.
>>14079744
i don't think you do, only for a high powered vehicle exemption
>>14077832
Swear I've seen this car around town. NSW?
>>14079853
haha i drive an 86 ive been pulled over twice only
iktf every cunt wants to race thinking its a supercar
and both of those are my posts im getting an r35 fuck it only about 100grand for a 2nd hand one
guess maybe cos every imprezza you see is turbocharged which is why u get hassled
>>14079926
>I drive an 86 ive been pulled over twice only
Even police know they're slow.
>>14079926
I get pulled over once a month, and almost every single cop that pulls me over calls it a 'rexxy'. Makes me cringe.
A GTR would be sick, don't see many of those around. What state you in?
>>14079897
Nah man, from Vic
>>14080131
victoria
should move to abo perth and drive turbos at 17 years old
>>14080320
Wonder if the perth abos are better behaved compared to the NT ones
>>14080320
could move to tassie, at least you won't melt here
Can yall go to the Aussie thread we already have.
>>14079754
>>14079792
Good God you're a bunch of imbeciles. America is perfectly safe, I just happen to have a thing for freedom, guns and cars. Nothing a Cuckistanian would know about.
>>14078001
You forgot your tinfoil hat
