Nothing new, just regular GM business. When they bought Daewoo in 2001 they simply slapped Chevrolet badges on all Daewoos on the European market. So basically the European brand perception of Chevrolet for the last 15 years has been "Korean shitboxes".

Chevy tried that before. They developed the chevy niva with VAZ (aka Lada) to replace the ancient original niva. The car was based on the old Niva's frame, which made it very good off road. But it failed to get approved by the EU so could only sell it in russia.

So OP's pics are the Lada Niva replacement due in 2017
