Been driving automatics my whole life and now it's time I learned manual.
Best car around $5k I can get to drive manual?
Wagon/hatch preferred
decent power but decent gas mileage
Is plastidipping still considered shit if the paint looks bad on a car?
buy any old piece of shit first. drive that into the dirt. Drop the clutch, grind the gears, butcher the shifts.
fuck it up and learn in it. afterwards buy something descent!
You can probably find a decent WRX wagon for $5k
Find a sub-500$ piece of shit that barely works, put a cup of water in the cup holder, spill as little as possible.

Golf GTI mkV?
Most mazdas that I've driven tend to be forgiving on mistakes.

If by hatch you're willing to include liftbacks then the Integra is a great car that you can probably get for ~$5k without too much trouble.

Get a civic hatch that hasn't been fucking assraped by cholos
>cheap as fuck
>Honda transmissions pretty good, great for beginners
>great mileage
Plastidipping is always considered shit. $5k should be able to buy you something with decent paint, but if not, spend a weekend sanding your car down yourself and take it to Maaco or something for a $500 single stage paint job.

>Is plastidipping still considered shit if the paint looks bad on a car?
Yes you goddamn spic
A cheap paint job is literally just about the same price even including labor

Sure if you've got something else to drive
If that's going to be your only car you're a fucking retard
Transmissions and clutches are a breeze to replace down the line, I don't know why anybody has this mentality.

Subaru's transmissions are absolute garbage, that's one thing they never got right. Would definitely not recommend a MT Subaru as somebody's first MT car. They've got goddamn glass synchros and retarded clutches from the factory

This, Mazdas have pretty forgiving manual transmissions. Especially the miata's transmission, that thing is fantastically easy to drive.

1993-1997 Toyota Corolla

>spic
You fuckboi

Got something else to drive still.

Is that the year/model when people always say get a corolla?

>Is that the year/model when people always say get a corolla?
generally yea. 1993-2002 models in general. But the wagon and A series engine were discontinued after 1997
Prelude or mk5 gti

I like some pop up lights a lot but the Miata just makes me feel like it's a roadster version of the bug. A feminine design.
