Mainly for resale value? And every vehicle they make is a solid competitor to their competition so you will be happy enough with whatever you buy but you get tremendous resale value and reliability.

You just take it to your local Toyota dealer and they replace it along with everything else that's broken...all for free.

my 09 matrix used to burn a shit load of oil and it only had 43k miles on it. when i took it to them to get looked at they said thats completely normal. aparently a lot of toyota motors around that era also burned excessive amount of oil due to bad rings
its really fun when you have carry oil around with you and check it every week

I worked for toyota, and watched mechanics do frame replacements on the tacomas. Even newer ones got the treatment...
as far as reliability... i don't know. Personally I saw my volkswagen need as much as some of the same year toyotas coming in for warranty.
It really depends though, the corollas and camrys are alright, but their not bulletproof.
I've personally found the more a car costs brand new the less troubles you'll have with it. Seriously. older audi A8's- the only thing that fails is the transmission after 200,000 miles. bmw 740il is the same story. Mercedes S class, I never see in shops like ever.
But as far as affordable cars, their all going to fail and need servicing. more so than brakes suspension and tires.

My family used to be a Mopar family, even through all the bullshit.

Since then we have gotten a 2000 Taco, 03 corolla and a 15 camry.
All are still driving and have had no major repairs.
