is 1999 honda accord 4cyl with 156k miles for $2000 dollars bad idea /o/?

Ive been reading they have terrible transmissions and with 156k miles is it pretty much throwing my money away?

The Autotragics are terrible, the Manuals are fine.

Well 2k is about the minimum you can get a running car for. I really don't think you can do better.
>>
If everything checks out, go for it. Worst case scenario the trans goes out and you can just get a known good from a junkyard and put it in.

These are really popular cars so there will be plenty of information out there on how to do it.

Anything less than 2k might run, but will almost definitely have serious problems.

The transmission is really only an issue on the v6 models

on a 2.3l 4cyl with 156k miles it should be fine?

Also how should the tranny feel? Like i tried it out and it kinda pulls when shifting like doesnt vibrate or anything but just pull a bit not sure if normal

If it's not a manual Honda, I don't recommend it.

give us your craigslist area and we'll help you find potential Japanese cars

we had one like this that got totalled (rear ended) at about 170k miles. price is fine. transmission never acted up but was a normal sluggish automatic. gas mileage was never great (mid 20s tops). just make sure it had the timing belt and water pump replaced around 100k miles. if it hasn't it's waiting to fail and you'll need to perform that service which at a shop could be up to 1000 dollars.

Yea it will be fine the issues were V6 only.
You should be able to feel the shifts. Once a transmission starts shifting really soft and slipping or flaring gears thats when you worry.
