The other problem is that there's nothing really that sets it apart from its competition. A GTR costs less money for what'll likely be better performance and a 911 Turbo and entry level Ferraris have the name/status and performance. It's just not remarkable and riding off its laurels. Back when the original NSX came out it was famous for being a Japanese car capable of fighting with the best from Germany and Italy. The GTR replaced it in that role for the 2010s.

This car's grave is already dug sadly. Honda waited way too long in releasing it to stand any chance in the market and I'm not just talking about from its competitors either.
The high end car market as a whole is slowing down. I have several friends that exclusively sell high end $90k+ cars for a living and they have told me in the past 9 months thier sales have dropped off the table just like they did before the 2008 crash. Even nissan is having a hard time selling the gtr. In the past 3 months they have sold less than 100 new cars total when they had been averaging about 200 cars per month. Of the 50 2015 nismo gtrs that nissan made there's still 26 sitting for sale at dealers and of the 50 2016 nismos there is something like 46 waiting on lots. I've been told that the big names like ferrari and lamborghini are seeing a similar slow down too. Now is really not the best time to try and bring a new halo car to the market. If I was Honda I would look into drastically scaling back the car and try to get it in the 60k to 80k range because the high end market is drying up fast.
