You can fight anything but unless you really know the law you'd probably need an attorney. I'm surprised they didn't include a printout of the photo of you running the light since you have a right to see the evidence against you but in California you may need to enter a not guilty plea before you file for discovery, which will drive up the court costs when you're most likely found guilty. It's dumb for their system not to at least send you some low-res printout of the photo though, you'd think Los Angeles would have that level of technology. It would certainly lead less people to wonder about fighting it. I assume you DID run a red light on the 4th? It was the Friday before last.

Send in note saying you plan to fight the ticket, that you invoke your 6th amendment right to face your accuser (the camara) and that you invoke your 5th amendment right not to accuse yourself or implement anyone else who may have been driving the car.
Most courts DO NOT want to bring redlight tickets to court because it allows for people to bring it up on appeals and get all red light cameras disabled by supreme court.
I'm pretty sure that in California, cameras cannot give you a moving violation- meaning the worst case is just paying the fine. No insurance hit or points, pretty much like a parking ticket.
In some jurisdictions, depending on how the camera operation was outsourced, the tickets might not even have the force of law. People just blow them off and nothing happens. This is part of why Los Angeles eventually just removed them (along with a total lack of results safety-wise).
