Fuck, my local cops are currently dumping all their Ford Crowns, they want to use this POS as their daily patrol, highway and inner-city vehicle. You expect this thing to catch a Civic, let alone something actually fast? Literally any motorcycle 500cc+ can outrun it in about 20 seconds. Lets go through the specs of my local 'progressive, forward thinking' cruiser.
3.7L V6, 304 h, autobox, weighs roughly 5000 pounds fully-loaded with 1 officer and gear (give or take 100 pounds for lolfatty behind the wheel), 0-60 is 8.4 - .95 seconds depending on who you ask.
And they expect THAT thing to catch the supersport racers on the highway, let alone some dopey college fuck in his moms minivan.
So short answer, I'm not too concerned, not like they can pull over anything relatively sporty anyway.

I hear that a lot, trust me, according to all the news website shit, I live 10 minutes away from Canada's streetracing capital (Car scene's pretty nice for the rust belt). At least here, its bullshit. They don't actually chase you if you are:

I got direct family that gets their kicks by baiting the cops on 1000cc bikes of their choice (no plate/generic gear), racing all day, and when the police show, just cruising away because *nobody* wants to give chase to the guy who will go 300kph with little to no provocation. The local cruiser/chopper clubs can blow the SUV's away with sheer torque, the supersports can blow them away on the highway, the dirt guys blow them away on the median, and ALL of them can just turn 3 times and declare themselves safe. Its pathetic.

The police cruiser will go *maybe* 200 kph if the officer behind the wheel is a Group B Rally-tier madman (fastest I've seen was a guy who said it was next to him at 220). Other times, they top out at 150kph due to the fact that a fuckhuge SUV laden with general police-issue gear doesn't do high speed well. You can ditch them with little effort at that rate, and its not hard to get your vehicle to that point. Get up there and take a turn off, and that's it. I've seen fucking hatchback Civics do it.

Quick and easy, considering basically 80% of the local area is suburbia. The police do NOT like giving chase there and generally call it off on the spot. So you can literally run home and be home free, no questions asked. We can't afford helicopters anyway, so there's little issue there.

Correct. Once you get rolling, they will not pursue for very long until they realize the futility of the chase. Remember, 8 second 0-100kph/0-60mph and a fuckhuge turning circle means all you need to do is pop a u-turn and nail the throttle.
If they try to catch you a few days later by summoning you and claiming you ran from the police, they need to have ALL the details EXACTLY right. Bike manufacturer, color, modifications, rider size, rider gear, rider gear/no gear, gear color/decals, if you had a plate/no plate, if you had any custom parts on that they could distinguish, etc. If they get any of that shit wrong, its thrown out of court, because you are innocent until proven guilty, and you can claim it simply wasn't you and get off. Hell, even if they give a perfect description of the bike, they have to prove it was YOU on the bike at the time, otherwise you can just say "No, that's just a bike that looks like mine. I was at home." And that's that. Your off.
I never got why people never fight tickets, you generally always win. You win if the cop doesn't show up (happens 75% of the time), you win if you can disprove ONE fact, you win if you can instill 'reasonable doubt' that you did it. I had a buddy get off completely after they showed him a picture of 'supposedly him', wearing his full leathers, on his bike. His response was 'well how do you know that's me, all I see is a guy wearing the same motorcycle gear I have on a bike like mine.' Boom, 750$ in fines out the window in an instant.
If you give them something concrete, they will have your ass. If you leave them floating in a sea of ambiguity, you will win every single time.
