bretty gud actually, so long as you don't try to spin the supercharger any more than how quickly it comes out of the factory. Engine internals are forged and can take a heap of shit, things you'll find will go wrong are typical Japanese issues like valve stem seals at 300,000km or so, leaky distributor O ring seals, etc.
Miata.
Because the S/C MR2s are ridiculously rare and when they do show up have some bullshit with them (automatic, rusted the fuck out, or 300k miles). The Miatas are also way more fun under their limit. MR2 feels like you're driving a FWD car until the back end comes around. Its not that fun.

both are good cars, the MR2 was less focused, pretty much a FF transverse drivetrain retrofitted for an MR purpose, the MR2 also has macpherson strut suspension, and although both are rust buckets when not looked after the MR2 seems to rust easier and faster, however both are reliable and fairly cheap to maintain, the MX5 has a few advantages, the first is that it was a lot more popular than the MR2 making spare parts cheaper and easier to come by, the second is that the MX5 features double wishbone suspension front and rear and a tasty front:rear weight distribution.
Although oddly I prefer the looks of the MR2(AW11) I cant really see a valid defence for it when compared with the MX5(NA)

I once stood before this question and I decided to buy the first good car in my price range I would come across. That happened to be a Miata because there are more of them.
From what I hear, lotsa people prefer the driving dynamics in the MR2, but practicality is better with the Miata (trunk space, engine bay easier accessible). Also in my area, Miatas tend to be slightly cheaper.
TL;DR Buy the first nice car that you can find within your budget. Leave the benchracing to others.
