Are roof scoops functional or just because rallycar?
yes they do
pressurises the cabin and keeps dirt outside
>>14058138
obviously they have a function or rally cars wouldn't have them you retard

/thread
>also circulates air for the drivers
>>14058138
directs air onto the intercooler to cool it better
>>14058155
This. The cabin is usually a low pressure area and draws air in through various places. You can either put in hundreds of pounds of seals and shit and then suffocate, or just draw clean air from above the car and push air back out.
Also, some mid engine cars have roof intakes.

There are a lot of things on rally cars that are pointless.

Things they kept from the production model
>roof scoop
Something added just for the rally cars
Try using your head next time

I'm not talking about the roofscoop it serves a purpose.
But the ones I listed do not serve a purpose.
As you said, "obviously they have a function or rally cars wouldn't have them you retard"
Well it seems they put a lot of shit on rally cars that don't have a purpose or function.
>>14059170
damn dood u jst gt fakn rekt
>>14059183
>>14058199
that's a hood scoop.
>>14059137
>names on the car not useful
You know via rules stipulate you also must have your blood type listed next to your name?
Its for paramedics once you barrel into a tree at 200kmh
>>14059183
I'm not the guy who called you a retard.
Re-read your post, in the context of the thread it implies you think the roofscoops is pointless like the other things you listed.
>>14059137
Rally cars need to be road-worthy, the actually need to be driven on the road, so they need headlights.
Antenna is for communication with the team at the pits
Paint schemes are promotion and that's what gets the costs covered
Names are very important, for the viewers and medics in case of an accident
Fancy shaped wheels are made for the best strength/weight ratio.
Everything in a rally car has a purpose.
>>14059137
Yeah why would you need headlights when rally drivers can see in the dark?

>>14059137
none of that is pointless on a rally car, idiot
>>14059137
>it looks good
>MUST BE POINTLESS!
>>14059137
>headlights: because they're going to remove them when it's daytime?
>antenna: because there is no radio communication in the car?
>paint schemes: because racing isn't a way to advertise your brand, sponsor, team snd manufacturer
>fancy shaped wheels: because they're not reinforced / made stronger for fucking jumping the car
Grill: protect rad. From debris
Badges : advertise manufacturer
Cmon anon, it all serves some purpose, even if very small
>>14059137
>>14058138
you need to work on your communication skills my autistic friend.
I would not own a rally car that didn't have a/c and cruise control.
>>14060495
rally wheels are deisgned to break first instead of suspension/subframe
>>14060526
Either way, the design serves a purpose
>>14060526
Which is ironic if true, because that's a very good way to destroy a suspension.
>>14058138
My limited edition STi (96) came with one. Crack the back windows a couple inches, open the scoop, and you get better airflow and circulation than A/C. Way quieter than having side windows down too.
>>14059137
Talking about daytime running lights? They're required by law in some states and provinces, so it's better/easier to just equip them on every model.
