How do you feel about it, whether drifting involved crappy drift missiles, kids learning to drift in their first car or professional drifters?

I agree in the sense that both drifters and hot rodders are "all shine, no substance" showoffs. Coincidentally both scenes are/were defined largely through lots of noise and smoking tires.

Most people manage it while keeping their mufflers on and retaining traction. I don't know what it is about morons that instantly makes their mufflers blow off and their tires spin.
Anything that doesn't have to do with racing is hot rodding. It's for show.
Racing is separate from all other forms of car culture. There's racing culture and then there's car culture. They aren't completely immiscible, but they aren't an emulsion.
