Plenty of "performance" cars are FF, take the Type R the Alphonse loves to jack his furry cock off on, for example.
Off the top of my head, FF can't benefit from the backwards force experienced during acceleration pushing the rear tires into the road like RWD can, as well as rear wings and stuff that serve a similar function. I remember even hearing that both of those things actually pull the driving wheels off the ground because of the way vehicle suspension works, but that's likely bullshit.
I'd also just think the layout inherently restricts the potential turning radius because the driving wheels are also the turning wheels, but I have no evidence to back that up other than driving both a Torrent and a RWD Ranger, but a Grand Caravan turns just as sharply, so it's possible solely dependant on the vehicle.
That and almost all the benefits and some drawbacks of FF vs. FR are shared with AWD, including better control on loose/slippery terrain from the vehicle (partially with AWD) pulling itself rather than pushing. AWD can also still benefit from downforce on the rear wheels especially when the power is more biased to the rear instead of the front which is becoming increasingly common.
FF supposedly takes up less interior space than FR but there are plenty of cars offered in both FF and AWD/4X4 packages with little to no space difference and (can) perform better overall for the reasons listed above and others. FF does save weight compared to other layouts, but so does RR.
I would still always go with AWD/4X4 over FWD if it's offered. As god-like as the new Type R is I'm sure it would be at least slightly better with AWD even if it did add a bit of weight.
Also RWD can drift, so there's that.
ITT a discussion about why FF is inferior to FR, FF poorfags can't come up with facts as to why it isn't and get BTFO so they deflect and compare economic car companies.

RWD cars were once king back in the early 90s, but with new technology, we've all witnessed the birth of FWD cars such as the Honda Type Rs which handle significantly better than many RWD sports cars.
The DC2/DC5 Type R especially has been praised for being on par, if not better, than many of the contemporary RWD cars, along with boasting better MPGs, more storage, better grip and being literally hundreds of pounds lighter to boot.
The era of RWD cars is effectively over. FWDs have caught up in terms of performance, while still boasting all of the benefits that FWD cars offer.
With the new Turbocharged 310HP Honda Civic Type R, I feel like the end for RWD cars is imminent. The perfect balance between top of the line performance, practicality, and overall a bargain, it's only a matter of time before RWD cars become nothing more than a relic of the past.
May we pay tribute to the fallen RWD kings, but not rest with them in peace along with them, for the FWDs have taken their place as the once and future rulers of the performance market.

I've put 150k on my car that I bought brand new. No recalls and the only things that have needed replaced outside of routine maintenance were the battery, a sway bar endlink and the brakes(which lasted 147k). Maybe you should try Ford faggot.
