I kept my learners for like 11 months when i had them and a month before i went in to get my probationary license they changed the laws behind how long you need to stay on probation from 1 year to 3 years... I would have been allowed to ride it a month ago if i had have gotten my licence just a month sooner god damn it.
So it has been gaining cobwebs at my dads house since i bought it off him so i do not lose my license, the 3 times i have ridden it tell me he is a wise man in that regard lol.

For the same money new I was looking at a MT07, XT660X, SV650, G650GS (at a stretch), CRF250L, WR250R and a few others not even worth considering.
SV650 is the closest thing that's good, but the suspension is shit on that too so it's just preference.
Not sure why the MT07 is getting hate when it sounds dope, is cheap and does power wheelies.

I guess the MT07 is the best from that selection. The MT07 won't break apart, don't worry, all I'm about was bang for the buck and you get so much better stuff for 7k. I'd take better suspension, build quality, power over something with 0k on the odo. I personally don't care for the 2k km on the used bike with full service history, that's just the break-in.

I think it's an OCD thing of not knowing a bikes entire story. Things like finding stripped/missing screws when working on a bike bug me, or even wondering if it was broken in properly or neglected by a previous owner.
I'm really looking forward to knowing a bikes story from day 1. At the end of it somebody has to buy new to keep the bike industry going, I don't mind being that guy.

I have made it up to the top of that hill once on my 450, admitted that was in winter too so the hill was wet but i had to come into the hill at 80km/h in 4th gear, slam back to third and keep the bike over 8000rpm all the way to the top, took 3 attempts, as soon as you dip below 8krpm you have to change back to second gear then you just stop dead lol.
