What are some good Dashcams /o/??

Amazon. I got one for 35$ then bought a 64gb memory card. Lasts a month before full, then delete and start over. Very clear video, and sound.

The one I got. Get it.

I use the Black Box G1W-X. Crystal clear video, 10/10 would buy again.
>>14046757
A good one will auto-delete the oldest file to record more without user interference. Black Box dashcams do this and also have a locking feature so it won't overwrite a video you mark as important.

Why would you use a dashcam when you have fists? pussy.

That's how Russians have to settle their disputes, but many of us live in 'Merica, where everyone will avoid admitting liability and attempt insurance fraud or attempt to sue someone at the first chance they get

Like I said, why would you use a dashcam when you could beat the living shit out of a liar
>>
>>14046455
tacking onto this, are there any decent brands that have GPS dash cam combos, or is it just better to have two seperate systems?
>>
OP I just installed a Street Guardian SG9665GC a month or so ago. I love it so far. It's very very well reviewed and it's pretty small. I keep it behind my mirror and it blocks virtually none of my view.

I wanted a cam I could "set and forget" and this one does a great job. Problem is it's 200 bucks, but it's designed by people on the dashcamtalk forums. It has a capacitor so I never need to worry about a battery going bad or whatever, it can do GPS and it has a G-sensor in it for auto-detection of a crash to save videos. And a nice big emergency button to stop and save the video. I find myself pressing that all the time when people are being retarded. Store onto an SD card.

But yeah it's small enough but has enough features I feel it's worth the price. Only issue I've had thus far is if I happen to stall my car it stops recording until you shut off, wait the ~10 sec it takes to fully power down on caps, then restart. Basically, if you have it powered, then you lose power, it begins to shut down, even if power is reapplied before it shuts down, it won't stop shutting down. But if it was already "off" (it shut down all the way) then it will turn back on OK

So that.

>auto-deletes
no thanks, I'd prefer time to atleast back it up on external storage before it wipes everything on the off-chance I forget.

And not to be misleading but let me ask/clarify

When I say "do GPS" I mean it tracks GPS data for speed and that's also how it gets date/time for timestamp.

Are you talking navigation because in my opinion in that case you are probably better off just using phone for GPS and dashcam for dashcammy stuff.
>>
>>14047330
It only deletes the oldest file as it needs more space, not everything all at once when it's full. Mine lasts about 3 weeks on a 32GB card before overwriting anything.
>>
>>14047343
>3 weeks
How much of that time were you driving if you could estimate? I'm genuinely curious, just trying to get a feel for what I'm looking at when I get a dashcam.
>>
>>14047343

Mine is suppose to do that and I thought I put the setting on it but it filled up last week finally, no directions learning it as I go.
>>
>>14047223
I fucking hate when people just stop in the middle of the road after a fender bender... like their car magically doesnt fucking work anymore.

pull your ass over to the side of the road.
>>
>>14047323
thanks anon. looking at some of the videos of this thing and it looks pretty good. I don't mind the price if it does the job that well.
>>
>>14047369
I drive about 200-250 miles a month on average, so a little bit less than that. That's with it recording in 1080p and 30fps.
>>
>>14047337
I drive up in the mountains on a regular basis, with absolutely no cell signal for long stretches.

I have a dedicated map GPS unit, but only one power outlet, and id rather avoid having two units occupying window space if possible.
>>
>>14047402
I have mine installed with that same company's direct wire-in adapter to an add-a-fuse on the radio circuit so it's on switched power and it works beautifully. I forget it's even there.

The wire-in adapter is another like 10 bucks I think but it all came from Pier 28 which is the American reseller. 100% worth it for me since I have no switched power outlets and didn't want to use one anyway.

The cam itself, or at least mine, came with a cable hider to make it look more natural, a bunch of extra adhesive strips, just all kinds of little things to help install look nice.

Only gadget I have left to put in my car is a V1 radar detector which will probably go on the same circuit.
>>
>>14047450
Fair enough, to be honest I often prefer dedicated units. Honestly I don't know of any good all in one units, check dashcamtalk, I wasn't looking for an integrated unit.

However, you CAN obtain, if you can't find a compact enough cam, dashcams that basically replace your rearview and are built in.

It's late here now and I need to hit the sack soon, but if you want and you don't plan on buying immediately right now, then tomorrow when I get home from work I'll take some pictures of my SG9665GC as it's installed in my car and post them here assuming this thread doesn't die, I should probably empty the card anyhow.

Are most of these battery powered or run off car power?

I have that same camera with the same size memory card. I record at 1080p and it only holds about 5 hours of footage. I use it while delivering pizza and when I used to check the footage to make sure it was working properly it would almost never have the previous nights footage.

You don't need an entire months worth of footage, you just need it in case of an accident. If you're trying to record your hooning shenanigans get a real camera.

Car powered.

If you don't want a lead trailing around, get yourself a hardwire kit and that saves the hassle of using the 12V socket.

I'm back from work and I got some pics of my unit as it's installed in my car. I also pulled in the SD card and I'll see if I can't get the vids off of it.

The MicroSD/SD to USB/MicroUSB adapter they give you is handy as fuck, it plugs in and just works on my phone no problem, or PC.

Pic related is looking at the camera as it's installed behind my mirror.

Sorry for shit quality. While my dashcam is quite good my M8's camera, is not. In fact it sucks donkey balls.

View from outside it really isn't too visible or obvious at all from a distance but if someone's up close it is visible enough.

>>14047223
holy shit, that driver with the dash cam is a complete autist. He has so much time to react. You and him both need to kill yourselves.
>>
>>14047369
I have this same cam and while driving a tow truck for 12 hours it didn't last a day on 32gb. This is on 1080p though, you can chose to downgrade to 720p for more storage. When generally driving for 30 minutes or less it would last a few weeks.

i bought a mini 0806 from gearbest.com for $86 after reading about it on dashcamtalk. the video quality is excellent and super clear at 2560x1080, i can even read license plates on night footage.
>>
>>14046455
I have this exact camera

Bought a 15 dollar camera off ebay. FPS is low but I think it's good enough. When all I want to do is just record.
