Fucking why?
>>
>>14043960
So you can put a cassette adapter in it.
>>
Because tapes > CDs
>>
>>14043967
How well do those work? I was thinking about it, but figured the sound quality would be shit.
>>
>>14043974
Please explain
>>
>>14043960
In '04 tapes were still being sold in shops and many people still had music on cassette. The original ipod had only just been released.

Many cars of that era had tape and cd players.
My 03 golf has a cassette and cd player.
Found an awesome Phil Collins tape that belonged to my dad, and still have the first single I ever bought on tape Smashing pumpkins tonight tonight.

Fucking yes
>>
>>14043978
Sound quality is shit, but what else are you going to do? The only way to get an AUX input is to get a new head unit or add your own wiring to the stock one.
>>
>>14043978
If you don't get a shitty one that goes out in the middle of a track, pretty good actually
>>
>>14044102
Now that I think about it, I guess you're right.
It just seems lik such ancient technology now.
Last cassette I owned was the motherfucking Space Jam soundtrack.
>>
at least cd players are on their way out now too

everything should just have bluetooth aux and usb tbqh
>>
>>14044116
I love the look of old car radios. Nostalgia like a bitch.
>>
>>14044117
True. I refuse to buy aftermarket head units.
They just scream teenager/nigger to me.
I wonder if the one from an A8 or something would fit in my A6?
>>
>>14044116
Looks like a microwave from the 70's.
Still cool as fuck though.

You can get cassettes that take sd cards.
I imagine the sound quality is awful, but they are cheap.

i bet you don't even deliver tofu.
>>
>>14044163
You can also mix your own cassettes by simply plugging in an Aux Cord into the cassette player microphone port and your computer's headphone port. Then just play any music you want and bam, instant mix tape.
>>
>>14043960
Cassette players aren't that outdated that last car to come out with one was in 2010 and it was a Lexus
>>

>>
>>14043978
If you're getting one get the Sony Walkman tape adapter. By far best one I've used, after having gone through three other shitty ones.
>>
>>14044565
it's even better to get a proper tape deck from a thrift shop

car adaptor in deck A hooked to computer line out
blank tape in deck B
set up playlist the length of your tape
record

you never know when you'll be in a car with a tapedack
always keep a eurobeat mixtape handy

Enjoy not listening to Flac files via USB just because you're a little bitch that's scared what others think lmao.

they have Bluetooth cassette tapes also that have a mini mic so you can use hands free talking also. pretty cool desu.
>>
>>14043960
Can you connect a cd charger? if it's so just buy a yatour, plug it and presto now you have an aux port/usb/sd card port that doesn't sound like shit.

The head unit will see a huge cd charger.
>>
>>14043960

>>
>>14043960

My current car is a 2000-plate, and was a pretty upmarket car in its day. It has a button marked CD... that isn't connected to jack shit. The CD changer was optional, and they didn't take the fucking button out.

I spent a good five minutes pressing it and looking for the goddamn CD changer. It was never there.
>>
>>14044997
why did i lose to this?
>>
>>14045715
>The CD changer was optional, and they didn't take the fucking button out.

Any GM product is not upmarket and the reason they do that is so they dont have 15 different versions of audio systems on line to get confused with.
>>
find upper scale car of same model with cd/aux in deck. remove eeprom from current deck and install into new deck. done this to my friends RCSB silverado. it only stores VATS key and station presets. easy as piss.
>>
>>14044140

>No Aux or bluetooth option
What is it with Honda, honestly.
>>
>>14043978
Surprisingly well for how cheap they are. I picked up a no name adapter for $5 at Walgreens and it still works fine, much better than the shitty little FM transmitter my friend gave me.
>>
>>14046291

To be fair, it did have a CD player and XM also.
And there was a button marked AUX but I don't remember ever finding where the input was. Maybe inside the center console.

But everyone you ever let into the car?
"Wow. A tape player!"
> Looks right at home below the giant sat nav screen
>>
Because in 2004 to 2007 when all your sweet music and playlists were on an ipod you either had to fuck around with the shitty fm transmitters that were terrible or make data discs or some shit.

Unless there was the based tape deck where you could use the 10 dollar tape adapter for the best sound quality and reliability.

This literally was awesome at the time, and rare. Quit hating you young fuck.
>>
>>14046436
It had Aux support, but no model of the accord from 2003-2007 came with a factory Aux input. I don't understand why, but it's Honda so fuck it.
And My brother has a 2006 Avalon that was a Grandma's car, and it has a Tape player because the grandma had a ton of tapes, and she wanted to listen to them. It's funny what options will be obsolete in 30 years, but will still be options.
>>
>>14045842

Yeah, search on amazon. I had one, it died when i jumped someone else though. Kinda shit quality, but worked
>>

This.

Unless you're a real perfectionist when it comes to your sound, they are MILES better (and simpler) than the FM transmitters, which are really the only other low budget option.

I had a cassette adapter in mine for about 6 years, used it all the time. Sounded as good as I could have hoped. Bass gets transmitted well, which I find doesn't come through on the FM transmitters. Definitely worth the 5-20 bucks.

Though I've never tried them, with stuff like this generally don't go for the super China quality, pick something that's more than a couple bucks.
>>
>>14046612
I had an 8-track in my car
>>
>>14043960
Because VW.
>>
>that weird period of time
>no cassette

>having to burn all your music to CD
>>
>>14044207
Not too long after, the 8-track tape was born, and drivers everywhere were liberated from the prison of radio.

Of course, the downside of that was that radio became overly commercialized and loaded up with garbage, but now people could actually choose what to listen to in their car without worrying about the music being destroyed by the road.

The headunit from most A6 models (with exception for the latest models) should mix and match with little effort, you might miss out on some features from the newer units because the inputs aren't available on your car

I used to have 1960 Plymouth Fury convertible. It had an 8 track player. Was I surprised? No. Why are you surprised a 2004 car has a cassette player?

Thank you anon.
>>
Sometimes, a head unit in a car with a factory CD changer option (trunk or armrest, usually) will have RCA inputs in the back for said CD changer. When present, they can often be rigged into an aux input.

My dad used to have an '03 or '04 model car with a trunk-mounted hard drive music player that told the head unit it was a CD changer. I think it could store like 250 albums or something. It's not particularly impressive by today's standards, but was cool as shit back then, before everyone had an mp3 player.
>>
>>14045774
who does that anymore

they just hand you an aux cord
>>
2002 mustang, cd and tape, but my sister (her old car) fucked the cd player SOMEHOW. Tape to 3.5mm now.
Off topic slightly but does anyone know a website i could have put albums onto cassettes then buy from them? I dont have anything that can write to a cassette anymore.
>>
>>14051203
Go to a yard sale and find a tape deck, then you should be able to record to it from what ever device you have
