Proportions look to be a huge improvement over the MKS. I really like the wheels too (I think all the Lincolns are getting that style of wheel). Still it's look better if the front wheels were pushed a bit further forward.
>>

V8s are deprecated. Get over it.

And who cares if it's FWD or RWD (it'll probably be AWD anyway). Are you planning on drifting your giant luxury sedan?

Who cares about any of that shit in a luxury barge? FWD means more cabin space.
>>
>>14043293
Going forward legislation will make small engines - turbocharged and/or hybrids - the norm. Ford known which way the wind is blowing with the ecoboosts.

It wasn't too long ago that V12s were pretty common in mainstream (non-exotic) luxury cars. The same thing is happening to V8s.

Also who would have thought diesels would become the most common engines in luxury cars (as is now the case in Europe). Times change.
>>
>>14043297
>ugly wheels
It's supposed to look expensive and classy, not factory niggered.

>FWD
Literally the opposite of what a land barge is supposed to be.

>not V8
Land barges are supposed to have smooth, linear power with lots of torque to carry the weight. Why do you think BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, etc. still use RWD V8s at least?
>>
The big engines put a halo over the model, but I wonder how many V8 (let alone V12) models of those companies big sedans are actually sold. I would guess - compared to the V6 models - it's a very small number these days.
>>
>>14043348
Do you really think FWD vs. RWD makes any difference in the handling of these huge cars? (apart from hotted-up versions you'll only ever see on Top Gear). These big cars stayed RWD because of torque steer, a problem that's been solved nowadays.

Re: power, the 3.5 turbo has 365 hp 350 lb/ft in the current MKS. The new 3.0 twin turbo in the 2017 MKZ makes 400 hp and 400 lb/ft (more powerful than any Lincoln ever made).

Its actually AWD, and if I've heard correctly, its a system that will send 70% of its engine power to the rear wheels.

As for the V6 EcoBoost, it can apparently produce 400hp.

I think this car will surprise people.

MKZ/Continentals with the optional 'Driver's Package' will use the GKN torque vectoring system from the RS, it won't be set up the same because it's not a hoon-mobile.

Lincoln has a really shitty dealer presence in Asia, where these kind of large soft sedans are king. I see the very odd MKS or MKZ here in Seoul, but then Cadillac seems to have no presence whatsoever (I suppose because GM makes/sells the Alpheon here).

Chrysler wanted to bring back the Imperial for a 2007 MY release during Daimler ownership. It was going to ride on an extended 300 platform, be fitted with an uprated 6.1 liter Hemi and share systems and suspension with the S-Class. They killed it off due to the financial crisis.

Since Cadillac and Lincoln are now building fuckhuge barges again, largely for huge Asian demand, I could see Chrysler attempting to bring it back once more to offer a competitor in the segment. The 300 still sells well, and Fiat has confirmed that the next generation 300 will still be RWD so if they build an Imperial it would likely share the platform and be a proper RWD barge too.
>>
>>14049240
I see a fair number of 300s here in Korea, which is weird since I've never seen a Chrysler dealership or ad. The 300 and especially the 200 are really on the money in Asia, the problem is dealer network I'd think.
>>
>>14049258
I've always thought Chrysler would do well in Asia. I have no idea why they don't invest more in the China-Korea-Taiwan-Malaysia market. They make decently quick, comfortable premium feeling sedans and offer them at a very low price point. They could probably even make a lot of the optional luxury-esque features standard if they brought pricing in line with Hyundai/Toyota/Kia/Honda. I really hope they start focusing on Asia more, it'd make the Imperial a very viable product for them to produce as a Cima/Equus/K9/Majesta/Chairman competitor. Does Chrysler even have a dedicated dealer network in Korea or are they just privately imported?
>>
>>14049276
http://www.chrysler.co.kr/fca/

Looks like they have 20 or so dealers. I've never noticed. Obviously it's hard to compete with Hyundai/Kia/GM when they have a dealer on every block.

I haven't been in a Chrysler in a few years (e.g. a newest gen 300 or 200). Are they competative in terms of perceived interior quality?

BTW I really don't see the point in a LWB 300. It's already got lots of room, and it's not like any will be chauffeur driven.

Chrysler is the smallest of the domestic brands in the US as well.

>Are they competative in terms of perceived interior quality?

Perceived yes, especially for the 200. They offer a real bronze and textured wood interior set with leather in a car that's only $26,000. I can't think of another brand that does that. It's interior feels upmarket compared to the Sonata, Malibu, Fusion, Altima and Camry. I think only the new Passat comes close in the segment.

The 300 not so much. It's still very comfortable but it's an old design and it shows. It's due to be redesigned next year and if they follow the 200, it will probably be quite nice inside.

I think the Imperial would likely be an attempt to enter the upper eschelons of luxury for Chrysler. Meaning an attempt to break into Mercedes-Benz/Audi territory so it'd need to be just as big as an A8L or LWB S-Class.
>>
>>14049347
>I think the Imperial would likely be an attempt to enter the upper eschelons of luxury for Chrysler. Meaning an attempt to break into Mercedes-Benz/Audi territory so it'd need to be just as big as an A8L or LWB S-Class.

Chrysler's never been competitive at the really premium end, even when they were just competing with Cadillac and Lincoln. It'd be a losing game to try again.

Chrysler's traditionally been a "near-premium" brand, but unfortunately for them there's really no longer such a thing in North America or Europe for whatever reason. But that's really the heard of the market in Asia. Asians are somewhat status-seeking in terms of brand, but the size of a vehicle also means a lot here. Since really big Mercedes, Jaguars, etc. are so ludicrously expensive, a brand that's more affordable, but not tainted with the stigma of making cheap small cars, really is where the money is at here.
>>
>>14049396
>no longer such a thing in North America or Europe for whatever reason

I suspect this is because the West is a lot less class-conscious then it used to be. Wealthy people don't seem the least bit troubled by the idea of optioning up a +$40k Ford/Volkswagen/Honda, brands which can be gotten into with $15k compacts.
