How do I into rally? Lets say I have 4k to spend on making a rally car. What should I look for? I kinda like the volvo 240 tarbo. Where can I go to rally track? I already googled and found the US rally website, that helped. Any tips from here? I want to be the best rally driver in the world.

the best rally cars are actually FWD because its easier to control. yes you can old school it in a mk 2 ford escort with the tail hanging out or blow your budget just trying to find a cheap 240 turbo volvo most of you budget will be taken up by buying all the safety equipment especally roll cage. if you want to go faster in a volvo forget the turbo because the 240 is a heavy shell with a tiny engine, bigger engine is better yes you can drop a v8 into a volvo quite easy.

Tell that to the Swedes and Finns they haul fucking ass with n/a redblocks on race gas. The Volvo 240's really aren't that heavy and when they're stripped down for rally they're maybe 3000 lbs. Also I don't think a V8 swapped 240 would fit into any rally class.

I honestly hated my MIata when I had it, it was completely awful. RWD wasn't worth it and I have no idea why so many people hype it.

Miata's not exactly the end all be all rwd though, it's just a good poorfag hoon mobile. You should sample some other rwd cars. Honestly there's really good examples of all drivetrain layouts, none are always better than the others.

my aunt has one, she let me drive it. i liked it when i drove it, it felt super responsive and i could totally feel the road. im gonna try all possible options before i buy though, the other cars on my list are s13, ttrx7, e30, and e36. although miata may be the only one in my price range.

For 4k you're not building a class winner, 1250 - 2000 will go to the rollcage, 600 to 1000 will go to seats and harnesses, 250 - 500 will go to suit and helmet depending on requirements of series.
Buy whatever car you can with the remainder, I started in a mini, sister started in an fxgt corolla. Both were cheap, plentiful and well documented at the time.
There's no real restriction on car you could go buy an old Volvo, Saab, vw and it wouldn't matter.

this car had FWD and won the monte carlo rallies several times agaist way bigger cars than itself. its secret? wheels mounted at all four corners othe vehicle not like a RWD where they are normally mounted a bit more inwards. you havent really lived until you have driven a mini fast. sure it hasnt got the power to beat the bigger cars on the straights but it makes up for it in the corners
