The only bad thing about the '07 - '13 Silverado is the fact that it took Chevy til '14 to come out with a crew cab standard bed.
Meanwhile Ford was making 6.5' bed crew cab F150s since (06?).
>>14039937
The only other bad thing about them is basically everything mechanical and the horrible rust issues they face. Oh and the badges falling off and developing that gross patina like the Fords. Sorry about your poor luck having to drive a c u c k mobile like that.

There is something inherently comfy about the avalanche, it feels so big and "safe"

When you live down a dirt road, 10km from the nearest spit of pavement, or on a farm/somewhere it isn't practical to plow all of all the time, then you can tell me how I'm a little bitch for not wanting to beach the car every time I want to move some equipment or get to the store less than 3 days after a snowfall (aka when the plow trucks finally decide your road is worthy of their time).

Fucking crucify me, but I'm used one of those "jelly bean" fords and currently have a 12th gen. I miss the visibility I used to enjoy with the sloping hood of the 10th gen. It really saved my ass when maneuvering tight spaces with a 18ft horse trailer. The 12th gen perplexes me with its foot of empty space between the grill and rad, and the boxiness isn't as nice visibility wise.

AFM a shit, but the 4.8L is a fucking great little thing. The 5.3 would be a GOAT motor if it weren't for the AFM.
>>14046535
Ya know you can disable that, eh?
Ford is keking the truck market into buying turbo V6s, whereas Chevy is delivering V8s with AFM that can be disabled by a programmer.
>>14041428
take that shitty box out of here
>>14046748
AFM? Not familar with that term, I daily a 2012 RCSB, but I've never heard that
Best truck țḃȟ ḟāḿ
>>14047736
AFM is the active fuel management. Basically, it turns your 5.3L V8 into a 2.7L V4 when you don't need the extra power. The system can fuck up and start going through oil bad, IIRC it has something to do with oil cooking off in the cylinders that shut off. GM and some people say it's fixed, others say they still have problems.
Solution?
1. Reprogram with an AFM delete. I think this might void any warranty you have on the powertrain, though
2. Just get the fucking 4.8L V8. No AFM, no problem. It's pretty much a destroked 5.3L, and it still produces plenty of power.

>>14040473
Saucy
>>14049365
No, it's nomenclature from the 60s or so when it was accurate, and has since been used to refer to categories of capacity. A current half ton can carry up to a full tonne, a three quarter ton up to 1.8 tonnes and a one ton up to 3.2 tonnes. These numbers all refer to Ford's F-Series which is class leading in load capacity.
