Going to check out this 1997 Isuzu Trooper tomorrow, the guy is asking 1600 including tax ( pawn shop), 175k miles, all electric and AC works, no problems that he knows of. Anything to look for and advice on negotiating would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Take it for a test drive, check the engine bay, undercarriage, if it seems sketchy pass and buy a civic, if it drives and feel alright offer him 1300 cash

I'm not sure about your area, but I can do much better for that amount of money. I would honestly walk away from this deal. It does not give off the "well cared for" vibe to me. The "sick mawds", missing bumpers and the fact that it's at a pawn shop give me the impression that it was owned by some sort of hood rat that did not take care of it what so ever, and he had to cut his loses after no one on craigslist would buy it.

This generation of Trooper is notorious for burning oil so if you do buy it, just accept that it will. People that put rims that disgusting on their car generally do not take good care of it. I would walk away from it.
My dad had a Trooper for years. Was a real pain in the ass but it just wouldnt die. It was hit in the front left but it still drove and ran fine for like 6 years after it. Only reason my dad got rid of it was because he just didnt want it in the drive way and he didnt want to wait 3 years for me to get my license to give it to me.

Don't buy one. Buy either an earlier one with the 3.2L or a 2002.
