Look at Jap Motorsports videos they talk about it all the time, that's why some circuits are better off having rwd or fwd, really short circuits are dominated by fwd, bigger circuits see a lot of rwd getting good lap times and awd drive shines at places like the nurburgring

The GTR isnt the fastest track car on the planet, the fastest ones are RWD. Also for the high end AWD cars (Porsche 918 for example) the power is disabled from the front axle at higher speeds for better high speed performance and cornering.

you should educate yourself how LMP1 cars work, they switch on FWD just for short periods of time via KERS for gaining better straight line accelerations at lower speeds.
