If I have a, say, E30 with a M20 that's going to be turboed with an aftermarket ECU setup, how do I pass emissions in Arizona?
It seems like every build thread ever is just devoid of information on emissions testing.
I'm assuming they just do a NOx test, which would easily pass with a high quality cat, right?
God, just let me pay 150 bucks so I don't have to deal with emissions BS

Get a tune that complies with emissions regulations.
If the garage that tunes the engine has a gas analyser they should be able to do that for you.
Do they test for nox. In the UK we don't.

Pay out the ass for a big, high-flow cat, pay out the ass for a tune that passes emissions. Seriously, an emissions-friendly tune is going to cost a lot of money. Lots of time will have to go into it and it will involve a dyno that has manual loading capabilities and a shop that has an exhaust gas analyzer.
How is an E30 not old enough to be exempt in Arizona? What's the cutoff?

Get your fuel system properly mapped out and you'll pass emmisions. NoX forms when you're running lean, which you don't want on a turbo anyway
here in my eurostan country really old cars are exempt from emissions, and old cars have lax emissions regulations. basically you could turbo an E30 and pass emissions with just a cat and a regular tune.

There is none 1968 (first year for federal) and up.
Had to put my fury on the rollers even though the only emissions equip it had was a pcv valve.
Crammed with a big carb passed with 1/3 the limit every time. That straight pipe howl in those big tin sheds was amazing.

Well I guess I can cross Arizona off of the "places I might move to" list.

It should have never been on that list.
Fuck Arpaio? Fuck Arizona
