The 250 GTO, valued over every other Ferrari in existence
Why? What makes it better than a modern LaFerrari, an F40, a '57 250 Testa Rossa or a 500 Mondial?
Why is the market slanted towards this car over all other Prancing Horses?
>>14024491
Because it's rarer than those cars and widely regarded by ferrari connoisseur to be the most ferrari ferrari.
>valued over every other Ferrari in existence
No it isn't. Pic related is the most valued Ferrari.
>weighs less than a miata
>has a 300hp V12
>is an actual racing car you can drive on the street
>>14024642
the GTO is the most valuable in terms of actual monetary value
>GTO
>not getting raped by based Shelby Ford powered daytonca coupe
>>14024818
The most one has gone for is $4,000,000.
The GTO eclipses that year after year.
>>14024834
>paying more money for a worse car
shig
>>14024810
No it isn't.
The P4 is literally priceless. To buy one you'd have to offer such a ludicrous amount of money to Glickenhaus that it would make the 250 GTO's $38 million look like pocket change.
It's got far more heritage and it's the only one left. If you knew ANYTHING about the market of Ferraris you would know that.
>>14024856
Its the better investment. The Daytona is just Shelby Development going "me too".
If you want a fast car, buy a cheap open-wheeler. You grab a GTO for other reasons.
>>14024856
It drives a lot better.
Daytona coupe is described as an unpleasent, extremely uncomfortable unfun car. A 250 GTO is described as driving bliss.

Let me tell you a story youngun. I used to play guild wars religiously. In this game, people loved mini-pets.
One of them, a rare Kuunavang could fetch 150k. Then it went higher, and higher. New people started joining and wondered why someone would pay so much for an ugly mini pet. Eventually, the old timers that loved their Kuunavang's stopped playing. And the price of the Kuunavang's fell because they were an outdated, ugly ass mini pet, with no value apart from the price people were willing to pay for it during a small period.
In other words, the price will fall when the boomers die off. I mean who wants a shitty 50+ year old car that does 0-60 slower than your faggot dads Prius?
>>14024914
GT40 > Daytona
>>14024491
I think alot of it is to do with the reputation Ferrari has which has basically given it a god tier status among people. Im sure there are better cars of the same age, but who wants any car, when you can have a Ferrari?
>>14024491
Idk I'd rather have an F40 the 250 GTO is slow
>>14024923
>ferrari lost to shelby not once but twice
>not shit
>>14024942
Said the anon that would probably crash an S2000 on a track.

You can't really compare a virtual item to a real world one. Just because a rare old item devalued in an online economy, doesn't mean that a rare old car will depreciate. Someone will always buy the GTO for more money than the last guy, whether it be for its looks, its exorbitant price, or its heritage.
I think the Lamborhini Miura is more handsome than anything Ferrari has ever put out, to be honest.
I also think that Ferrari hasn't really released anything past the 90s that has lived up to its pedigree.
>>14024930
>In other words, the price will fall when the boomers die off.
No, that's a pretty fucking ridiculous notion. Cars like that appreciate like fine paintings because they have great aesthetic and historical value and will always find admirers due to the design being timelessly beautiful.
>>14025076
>Miura
What's the most one goes for?

You wanna talk priceless? There's only one way to ever attain it, and that's by buying the entirety of the Daimler company.
>>14024946
But Ferrari officially pulled out of the GT class i n 1964. Shelby first raced the Daytona in 1964.
You're the one that's lying m8
>>14025117
The going rate for the non-P400SV models I think sits around 2mil today.
There were a good number of them built so they'll never be as valuable as a lot of the big-ticket Ferraris, but there were also a good number of them crashed because they're very difficult cars to drive under speed.
>>14025117
Those eyelashes are fucking gay doe m8.
>>14025137
Why does that one look so different? What that type of 250 GTO called, it makes me think of a flattened 276GTB.
>>14025138
What was the Uhlenhaut Coupé supposed to be? It was never raced right? Was it just a prototype for a road car that never made it to production?
>>14025148
That's why you get the P400SV model which comes without them.
>>14025151
Series II, or 1964 types.
>>14025164
It was the Gullwing's and at the time Mercedes-Benz's lead designer's personal car. That's it. No racing, just the rarest, most eccentric, possibly loudest road going Gullwing ever.
>>14025164
After the 1955 crash the last of the cars were made into road cars.
Literally the engines flew out of the cars and into the crowd in the crashes. Final Destination shite.
You realize the most prized ones have extensive racing history and interesting owners in the heyday of racing right? F40s and LaFerraris are street cars owned by joe schmoes. Each individual one is not unique. Nobody is buying 250 GTOs for their spec sheets.
The people who made and raced these cars must be laughing in their graves right now
