I've been curious for a little while on what people think about the Volkswagen Amarok. I'd love to see it in the U.S. but it's not looking very good last I saw.

I'm from Germany where the Amarok probably has the biggest market so while far from common I regularly encounter them, and I'm yet to see Amaroks to anything a stake bed VW Transporter can't also do with more cargo space.
I think they're cool little trucks, kinda like the chevy avalances but better

2 litre twin turbo diesel that makes alright torque.. The gearbox is 7 or 8 speed auto, great for city or highway cruising.. Not really suited to offroading. They're a soft soccer mom 4wd. Get a hilux.

American pickup trucks are more offroad capable and comfortable. This isn't really a concern in densely populated western Europe.

the suspention design is quite good but when the go wrong it gets expensive. its also trying to compete here against the 2 top selling trucks

number one is the ford ranger. and the ford ranger is pretty evenly matched with the amarok.

Why not just buy a Chevy 2500 4 door with the Allison + Duramax? A ton of people have those where I work and apparently its a great combo. Still plenty of room for four/five people and a great chassis + power + drivetrain package.

The loadgate folds down, and also has a bar that swings out to extend the bed.
So instead of half the shitty bedsize it doubles.
Really though, why the fuck buy a car based 'truck', buy a truck.
Baja was pretty fucking GOAT, AWD, Legacy based, 4 seats, 4 doors, mini bed that extends to a small bed.
