So my boy threw on a throttle body and plenum from a 04 5.8 f150 on his 02 mustang gt. Like that's badass. And his throttle response is actually faster. I know I can use the gt40 heads and intake from an explorer, but are there any other cars I can take parts off of to use on my 92 5.0? I'm trying to gain a little bit more power on a budget
>>
He gets the minor advantage of every single Ford vehicle having a modular. I don't think a 302 will have the same luxury. A larger MAF sensor supposedly increases performance too.

Not much really, but those alone will help alot. Get the heads ported would help a bit but would be kinda expensive for not a ton of gain.
>>
Honestly aftermarket parts are so cheap for 5.0 foxbodies you might as well buy new parts with the exception of the GT40 heads and intake
>>
>>14008759
I was able to get a 75mm maf and 36lb injectors but I need more power. Also I got a high flow fuel rail
>>
>>14008763
Is the not so high gain of the gt40 set up even worth it?
>>
>>14008774
exhaust (mostly headers, cat delete if you can) will free up quite a few hp

then cam and 331 stroker kit

make sure you do subframe connectors and be careful with 3rd in that T5

have fun

I'd love to be able to buy new parts but I'm on a budget :(

Yeah, those totally exist. No difference at all between modular's and SBF's.

96/early 97 had gt40's, mid 97-01 had gt40p's. P's flow a touch more but have a stupid spark plug angle and require special headers unless you like pulling them ever time you change plugs. Early intakes had internal EGR, later ones had external.

Don't forget the stock valve springs are junk and will need replacing, even with a stock HO cam.

Also don't forget by the time your done, it may not be that much more to buy some entry level aluminum aftermarket heads. Check corral, there's always good deals on low mileage heads.

The jump from junkyard/craigslist part prices to new part prices isn't that big for foxbodies.
>>
>>14008784
I was actually talking to my boy about putting in a b303 cam. I like the mild lump it has. Will I have to use 302 Pistons for the stroker? Not Trynna bore my engine out

Jesus fuck OP. Spend a few weeks doing some research first.

But thanks for the info btw

It may be ancient but I'm not trynna go ape shit with my engine. Just need a good bump in power

First of all, letter cams may be cheap but there are MUCH better cams for not much more money.

boring is something you're gonna want to do if you're taking the damn thing apart anyway

the 306 and 331 only require .030 over.

People go 306 from 302 because they rebuild the bottom end and bore it out to clean up the bore, basically .030 over is nothing
>>
>>14008841
I'll do that in the future, cause I do like the way 331 stokers push. I just can't change my bottom end just yet. My money won't let me
>>
>>14008784
I have bbk shorty headers, are they the good ones?
>>
Go find a turbo coupe rear end from a local junkyard. Look for an automagic, since they have 3.73's. A 5-speed tutbo coupe would even be good with their 3.55's. Best, cheapest mod in my opinion.
>>
OP here, think I can get away with putting on 4 barrel 351 heads?
>>
>>14008908
What year 351 heads?

Either way gt40/gt40p's out flow them.
>>
>>14008780
Stock heads are really choked, gt40 heads and intake manifold are definitely worth it, especially with exhaust work.
>>
>>14008922
I'm not sure yet. Are there certain years that are batter for the 351 heads? The gt40p use an external egr though, I want to keep my internal egr
>>
>>14008926
I kind of feel dumb for asking this but will headers for e7's fit onto gt40 heads?
