Fine, I thought. It was a bit of a death trap so it was understandable she'd want something a bit safer to travel in. I was earning decent money at the time, too, so I bought a 540i on interest free over two years. I told her I didn't want something slow as I deserved a nice car I could enjoy. She started out fine with it.
After about 6 months, one unassuming eve she returns home after work and tells me I should sell the car as it's "dangerous". We had a bickering match as I asked her why she thought such a car was dangerous, and she got very evasive and deflected my questions. She at first said "My dad said so" but I saw straight through that excuse because he's a petrolhead who drives a TVR and has driven it to pick her up plenty of times. She started to buckle and it dawned on me that she may have been cheating. Love is blind, I didn't have any suspicions and we'd always been very trusting towards each other.
Turns out the guy she was fucking told her so. I'm not sure why he would say this, maybe to make her want to leave me? Maybe he's a total pussy scared of fast cars?
Anyway, I dumped her, moved back in with my parents and tried to piece my life back together. Her dad and I still go out on cruises now and again and he apologised about everything, which helped a little since I thought I deserved it (women can seriously make you feel responsible). But now I'm poor as fuck because I went through a drinking phase to cope with the deep-seated depression my ex kindly left me with, and I lost my job and now have to rent cars to businessmen who treat me like filth and won't take upgrades because "muh business account has a strict budget" so I don't earn much commission.
