Money. Like every other American supercar company. As well as many European supercar makers. 95% of people who spend $250k+ on a car are looking for a status symbol. The chicks are just going to be confused when you pick them up in your "Panoz".
Plus with present-day crash testing and emissions, it is so expensive to build a production car. Lots of low volume supercars build by large automakers never really make any profit.
