It should be popular for 2+2 sports cars. The rear seats are useless anyways, if you had three usable seats + more balanced driving it would be badass. Normalfags wouldn't like it though because they are dumb normal fags.

Because the driveshaft tunnel in most cars forces you to elevate the seat.
True drivers cars put the drivers butt as close to the floorpan as possible for dat low CG and aerodynamic roofline. That's not possible with a center-mounted seat in a FR car.
But the far easier method to get an optimal drivers position in a drivers car is to dump the passengers entirely.

If I remember correctly, the mclaren got around this by offsetting the gearbox output so the shaft would travel around the driver, allowing the seat to still be low.

the passengers sit in the space made available by a two part radiator up front
on top of this the v12 is so long that a luggage compartment will fit between the back of the passengers seat and the front of the rear wheel wells
