Aphonse-tier logic there. Of course a mass-market spec Camaro doesn't stand up against a limited-production Mustang halo car. Camaro SS is more comparable to a Mustang GT, which it shits on.
Not that I'm rooting for Chevy here, since I still hate the way the current gen Camaro looks, inside or out. The novelty of driving a real-life hot wheels car must wear out quickly when the car's windows start at neck height.
They could go a few different ways with the Z-28. Beating the GT350R just for dickwaving purposes is certainly one, but I could also see them delivering a slightly lesser car for a lot less money. Corporate bragging rights are one thing, but a special edition car isn't going to have a lot of presence out on the street if it's only accessible to richfags and collectors.
But, of course, I'm more interested in what Ford will do for the next Mustang refresh. Hopefully shed some weight, maybe improve the styling? I already really like the 2015's understated sleek look.

This is 100% wrong. Ford owned a just over a third of Mazda by the mid 90s. This gave them a controlling stake. After that they slowly starting selling off their stocks in the mid 2000s, and today they own none of Mazda.

I'm a nitpicky son of a bitch though. If I buy one it has to be white, preferably with black wheels or I'll have to buy them aftermarket. Must be at least a premium with leather seats, and that one being a california special is a bonus. It has a few little aftermarket things like the hood scoop and flush rear window louvers which I would be paying for separately as well. Makes it difficult to pass up if they would come down to $24k
only a year and a half till i finish my engineering degree and i'll be damned if i'm not getting a 1 or 2 year old FiST. i've seen 'em for under 17 and based on how much fun i had driving one, it seems like a hell of a bargain.

I've seen some fully optioned 2013/14 ST3's on Autotrader under the $20k mark with about 35k miles. You shouldn't have too much of a problem finding one you like if you're patient about it.
