how much would it cost to repaint a mr2

Why dont you call a body/paint shop you lazy fuck.
Do you just want to paint over the existing paint or strip it to bare metal and actually re-paint it?
You can do the first one yourself, the second one will be north of 5k.

probably the first one, its looking a little rough

It looks fine in the picture, have you ever given it a serious waxing?

Paint is a touchy thing. You get what you pay for.
A good paint job that just consists of stripping, rust proofing, primer, base and clear not including quarters, door skins, fender bottoms, etc or other metal work will cost around $6000, around $7500 to do each panel removed from the body and about $8500 to change the original color.
Paint and shop prices have increased drastically the past decade. Also, good luck finding any kind of oil base paint.

this is a craiglist photo, i havent bought it yet but i plan on it

Well imo nothing is more satisfying that spending an afternoon waxing the shit out of a car that really needs it.
Getting it professionally re-done will probably cost more than you're buying it for so unless you really don't like the color I think you should just stick with restoring it's current paint job.

well he said theres some primer on the right front fender from a dent, so that was what i was most concerned about

Shit nigga, you should have just started this thread with "How do I take care of a dent?". Take it to a body shop, they can pull the dent and repaint the area with something that matches. Probably cost $200 or less.
>doing it yourself
as much as maaco due to buying the equipment. pros are you can be in complete control of the spray, the prep, and the finishing which makes it /possible/ to get near professional results for cheap
>maaco
$500-$1000 depending on paint quality, 2 stage, prep, etc
>real professional
$2k+ easily
