Key things to look for in NM are places spiders, camel spiders (solfugids, technically), etc. can enter, water damage (flat roofs are notorious for it out there), and generally shoddy workmanship on everything. Pay the money to have each system inspected by someone who actually knows what's up and isn't buddy-buddy with whoever built the place you're looking at.

I read the sticky but I still have a lot of questions. I really want a bike but I'm not sure what to get or when to get it. I'm 6'3" so I'd hope for something I could be at least kind of comfortable on. I don't wanna spend a lot of money but from what I've looked at it looks like you can get something like a GS500E pretty cheap. I also wanted to know if I should plan to buy something right after I take a motorcycle safety course or what. Anything Japanese up to about 70ish HP that's not a two stroke should be fairly suitable.
I'd reccomend a Ninja 250 as they're well known as good first bikes, common as all hell and just about everything you could foreseeably want to do to one has been documented somewhere.
Buy decent protective gear. You might think it's stupid or ugly or whatever but you're gonna be uglier and feel all kinds of stupid when you're sliding down the road and the bitumen's chewing up your skin and muscle like a cheese grater.
