Should I buy an F-Type? I'm considering buying an F-Type. White of course.
>>

>>
>>13993228
They look good. There's 2 other anons who own F-Types. They seem to love them so far.
>>
>>13993228
>no manual option
kek
>>
Actually the 2016's do have a manual option.
>>
Just get a new Miata.
>>
They're pretty nice, just make sure you're considering your options. The V6 is about 70k. That's Cayman, RC-F money.
>>
>>13993255
Oh, I did not know that.
The F-Type looks like an awesome car. If I had the cash i would definitely consider one with a manual.
>>
That's my dream car. It's pretty great.

Lightweight. Agile. Fast. It handles well. Looks great. Small.

Can't go wrong.
>>
>>13993228
>Coupe
>White
Nope.

Also, I never thought I'd say this, but I genuinely think the V6 is the more interesting car.
>>
I saw a green one a month ago.

I couldn't stop looking at it. It looks really nice.
>>
OP here. The British Racing green and grey would be acceptable colors as well. They all look good though.
>>
>>13993228
Get a 2016 V6 RWD,Manual.
The V8 AWD is way more expensive and automatic.V+ still sounds good, guy at work has one
>>
What trim level? The AWD F-Type S is in the same price range as a Cayman GT4, so that's another option if you're looking to drop that kind of money.

>>13993255
F-Type R is still auto only, but all the other models have a manual option
>>
>>13993388
Definitely would do base with some modest options. Don't need more than the V6.
>>
>>13993279
>Lightweight
You are aware of how much they weigh right? More than a Mustang GT
>>
>>13993382
If it's not an orange convertible manual 2WD V6, you're doing it wrong. Not even sure why they offer other options desu.
>>
>>13993407
Jaguar F-Type weight: 3,455 to 3,847

Mustang GT weight: 3,707 to 3,729

It can possibly weigh more. It most likely will not.

I'll concede that the F-Type is on the heavier side when it comes to sports cars. My mistake.
>>
>>13993447
Heaviest side. What's heavier apart from the Camaro and GT-R? That said, it's glorious and you should buy one.
>>
front end looks amazing, but dat ass leaves something to be desired.
>>
>at the vintage races last year
>presenting sponsor is a Jag dealership
>pace car is the F Type
>getting ready for the F1 cars
>they sit on the grid not moving
>look at back straight
>the F type broke down 1 turn after pulling onto the track
>they have to flatbed it off
I suppose it is a true Jaguar (also in Jag fashion the 20 or so I've seen on the road were driven by geriatrics)
>>

I mean yeah they look cool but are completely outperformed by their BMW, Merc, Audi counterparts.
>>
>>13993400
Nice. I'm sure there are faster cars you could get for the price, but nothing that looks nearly as good.

I'd say just test drive one along with some competitors in the same price range and see what car you enjoy driving more. Don't worry about benchracing figures unless you're actually planning on racing with it. If you end up thinking the faster cars are more fun and enjoyable to drive that's fine, but don't buy something else solely *because* it's faster.

It doesn't matter if a Cayman S gets you to 60 0.4 seconds faster if it just doesn't get your dick as hard as that F-type ass and exhaust note does while doing it.
>>
>>13993597
The F-Type's really the only car I've had my eye on. The styling is just in a tier of its own. The performance is just icing.
>>
>>13993228
Only car I can think of for that price that you may have overlooked is the Alfa Romea 4c.
>>
>>13993607
for sure, but 70 grand is a lot of money to drop on a car (for most people anyways). I'd test drive a couple others for the hell of it, just so that you're 100% sure that this is the car you want and don't have any "what if?" thoughts after you buy it.
>>
>>13993545
I had a C63 black when it first came out, ended up getting offered what I had in it after a few months so sold it.

Car was fun, muscle-car-esque. But I wanted to drive it for daily type activities, and it just rode like shit and the tires were so soft they were only good for a few thousand miles driving normally, and with a burnout machine like that I can't imagine how fast they'd go if you really drove it hard.

/end blog post, but figured might be useful to OP.
>>
>>13993607
Eh, you're right. For the price you can't really find anything better looking. The C7 looks like a kid's toy in comparison, and anything else like a Vantage, Maserati GT, Ford GT, etc. is just way more expensive.
>>
I drive a 15 GT, if all my spare money wasn't going to pic related, I'd be all about an F type, damn it's sexy.
>>
>>13993607
You thinking the 340hp v6 or the 380hp v6? What's the resale on them? For that extra 40hp they want a lot of money (12 grand it looks like)
>>
You can't afford one, pal.
>>
>>13993667
The 340 hp model. And yeah the extra power is not worth the cost in my situation.
>>
>>13993685
What options are you looking at?
>>
>>13993709
Premium/vision pack seems like a must if I ever feel like backing up. Also the climate pack and some minor cosmetic upgrades. Total cost looking about 76k, could likely get that down a few k too.
>>
>>13993725
Cool. You going to daily drive it or just a weekend thing?
>>
>>13993786
DD during the non-winter months most likely. Nothing set in stone yet, but financially it seems doable. Who needs a retirement fund when you can have a fancy car.
>>
>>13993228
C-can you put some black wheels on it anon? ^-^
>>
>>13993822
If you're so tight you gotta go into your retirement, don't buy it.
>>
>>13993860

>>
>>13993838

>^-^

>>
>>13993228
Did you take that picture in GTA V?
>>
If I bought one I'd have test driven several others on a short list.

...maybe hired for a weekend from the short short list.

Then made a decision.

Can't afford the weekend hire?
>>
I've been thinking about one too. From my friend that has a Cayman GT4 it doesn't handle as sweet as it should. From a guy in my building coming from an Aston Vanquish he said the 550bhp R is the best car he's ever owned. My friend is a real connoisseur but if you're not (and almost no one is) it's likely an awesome car.
>>
I've had the F-type for a week, won it in a contest. I've never enjoyed a car so much, and I'm grinning ear to ear just thinking about it.

Get the RWD, OP. It's not insanely fast, looks faster than it is. Definitely an amazing car though, pissed off a lot of my neighbors with the noise and burn marks on the street.
>>
>>13993269
cayman is boxter with a roof.
if you are going to buy a jag, buy the v8 RWD one you will be glad you did.
>>13993545
thats the reason you buy a jag. because its not german.
>>13993643
because the black was mainly a track-day car. it wasnt really intended for road use. a normal amg or brabus (faster than amg) would have been fine

I second this. I though the v6 version was going to gutless till i heard it.
>>
>>13994577
Press reviews I've read seem to favour the more powerful v6. Engine suits the car better, or something.
>>
>>13993228
Go for it. I was offered one as an afternoon loaner when my Jag was in for a diff flush and 75k service. Got it on the highway and my god the noise is infectious. If I hadn't already decided to get an XFR next, the F Type would be top on the list. Having owned an XK in the past, I can say the F type is much nimbler but nowhere near as comfy. Not saying its a bad ride but it is a stiff suspension. And it was a base V6 RWD auto. Excellent choice OP
>>
Why not get an SL550 OP? Or the AMG version?

After test driving all of them on and off my local track, they are not agile nor handle well.
They handle....adequate?
They aren't agile, a Cayman is agile, this girl is not.

She is fun, a ton of fun but it's like a Maserati GT, it's...enough.
Does sex appeal, comfort and amazing cruiser with the exhaust gurgle amazingly.

But if you want the agile, small little lightweight girl to toss around 24/7 and occasionally go nuts on the track and to hold your own? Cayman or better yet, 964 CS.

Jelly. How much below MSRP did you offer?
>>
>>13998719
Well based on the research I've been doing, I was thinking 5-7% off MSRP would be reasonable considering the new model year is approaching. But because it's a custom order I'd be looking at (everything near me is optioned-out R's), I asked for a little over 5%. They counter-offered at 4% off MSRP, which isn't terrible. I'll have to mull this over.

1. too boring
2. too common
3. build quality is still sketchy (MB, AUDI) since the lare 80s
4. harsh ride
5. if you have a bad back not very comfertable interiors
6. too many buttons and anal type settings (i want the lights to stay on 2 no 3 seconds after i have gotten out of the car)
7. the performance is lacklustre
8. any v8 you cannot hear untill you have spent some money on aftermaket exhaust.
9. engine longevity is a afterthought.

Hi OP. One of the two anons PepsiFag mentioned here >>13993240 I have the blacked out autotragic 2016 F-Type S coupe.

I had the manual for a short time and the transmission was actually perfect and the clutch wasn't very heavy at all. I don't really like the gearing of the auto, the first two gears are ridiculously short and literally the only time I even use first is when I'm pulling it out of the garage. Magic gear is 4th, which seems really high but it is also an 8-speed. The auto shifts very quickly in full auto, and instantaneously with the paddles, so I will credit it with that.

The car has had minor electrical issues with the lights so far, but the dealership has comp'd all of them at no charge. The only other complaint I have with the S is that it just isn't enough power, I would recommend a blower swap if you get the S. Not very expensive (relatively speaking) and pretty much anywhere that tunes Mustangs will also do it for an F-Type. If you do the swap I would also recommend getting bigger rotors as well just to be safe, the ones from the factory are pretty small. The steering could not be better, probably the best I have ever experienced in a FR car. Interior is pretty comfy and visibility isn't bad either (again, relatively speaking). Has bluetooth and a great sound system.

In my opinion the way to go is S with a blower swap over the R. Definitely don't go with the base model if you have the option, the uncorked exhaust button is a NECESSITY. The way Jag designed the V6 head you probably won't notice a difference in the exhaust note between the 6 and the 8.

If you're wondering about other options I shopped around for cars of a similar price (RC-F, Cayman, M4, Z06, Vantage) and the Jaaaggg was by far my favorite, not even really close. The only thing I'd compare to it was a 2016 911 Turbo which ended up being well out of my price range anyways. Even then I'd probably still take the Jag just because of the looks.
