My area has a lot of cheap 80s corollas like pic related, would one of these be a horrible first car? Could I drift it if I get a rwd one?
>>
>first car
>could I drift

Stop.

Would you expect anything less from a fwd owner?
>>

You're making yourself look stupid

>drifting
Please don't. I rolled a car many years ago with that same mentality.

what car?
>>
80's corollas are literally the perfect first car. they're cheap, more reliable than other similarly aged/priced cars, and they get decent gas mileage. and insurance will be dirt cheap.

Corolla

>>13988286
Go for an ae92 if you can. They have the 4age and decent mod-ability, no drifting though
>>
>>13988286
You can drift in a FWD car you idiot

Yeah just put mr2 rear springs in the rear of a corolla. That's what I did. But I don't drift
ULTRA STIFF!!!!!
>>
>>13991214
You what?
Also, there isn't really a reason to buy a Corolla over a Civic

Corolla to me is way less fanboy mexiswag retarded.
Also yes. Aw11 uses the same suspension as the corolla. So you can use the springs.
The Mr2 fronts on a corolla front will lower the car a lot. The rear springs from a mr2 will lift the rear of a corolla. So you have to cut them.
You end up riding rough as fuck.
>>
>>13991257
Yeah but you lucked out with that
Most people buying corolla are going to be getting like a base 2000 Chevrolet Prizm, 1991 E90 Sedan at best, and every other 90s corolla in between
When they could get a 90s civic which is way better, or a zx2 ford escorts

>>13991257
are those te37s on the back

Drifting an EF hatch. I'd imagine that you could do the same thing with a fwd Corolla with a similar suspension setup.

>>13990659

What Corolla? I understeered my first car which happened to be a Corolla aswell into a ditch trying to race my friend's Z32 lol.
>>
>>13991257
You're supposed to use MR2 rears on corolla front and vice versa. MR2 is literally backwards corolla, you get the lift because the springs are supposed hold the weight of the drivetrain and engine without leverage.

Yes
>>13991437
You can't swap front to back. They are different diameter
>>
>>13991462
Really? I use my corolla as a cheap car for rallycross and use coilovers for aw11 in reverse layout. I didn't know that the springs had different diameters, now I look like an idiot.
>>
>>13991522
I'm sure the coilovers are fine.
>>
>>13991590
The coilovers are fine, they are all the same diameter but have different load capacity. I thought you could fit the aw11 springs like I did with coilovers but I was wrong.
>>
OP here, what if I learned to drift on a track? I'm near a major city in the CA/AZ/NM area so there's probably already a drifting community. Corolla would be cheap and have cheap insurance for a first car. And would fwd or rwd be better for drifting?
>>
>>13991656
Why the duck so ou wanna drift so bad jesus christ

Work on becoming a master driver first
>>
>>13991656
Learn how to drive first you inbred. FWD is not designed to drift, focus on becoming a better driver then worry about kiddy fantasies
>>
>>13988555
hahaha no it isnt
>>
If you want to drift get a 240sx or a high torque rwd car. A miata sucks for drifting and so does a corolla.
>>
>>13991708
Hahaha haha wrong
>>
>>13991663
I thought it would be a cool hobby, I probably wouldn't attempt to drift until next summer/fall because I'm not that good at driving yet. That would give me time to get wheels and stuff too
>>
>>13991723
He's not wrong, for a beginner drift car you want something rwd.
>>
>>13991815
>rwd
Uh uh
Not in this market
>>
>>13991823
I'd kill for a Cresta or Cressida type thing
>>
> $3000 for a 1983 beat up corolla
Fuck this dude rwd is impossible
