It's not sad because while they have great tracks, we have the space and upward mobility (aka no insane taxes and Muslim semen ingestion requirements) to own Porsche GT3's. When I was in highschool, my parents got me a brand new WRX STI. Our family friends in holland were jealous because he wanted one but had to get a little VW hatch due to taxes on cars and such.

I've been to Europe twice now, and even went to the 24hr Le Mans. You have to have to pretty decent cash in Eu to get high performance cars. Let's also not forget that no one puts a blower, bored out, or puts whatever modification on something simple and cheap (think mustang etc.) because their cheap performance cars just aren't going to reach that far.
There is also a stigma to owning certain cars, as our family friends in Germany once explained to me. He is a small business owner in a town outside of Stuttgart and he said basically that he chose between a Porsche, m3, and a C Klasse AMG. He got the M3 because if people saw him in a MB or Porsche, they'd think he was doing too well and didn't need their business etc.

Both continents have their advantages and disadvantages. Inspections are shit in Germany and modifications a butthurt to be registered, on the other hand every car has an insurance that will pay millions of Euros if shit happens, unlike the US, where you receive nothing if some uninsured poor shit destroys your car in an accident.
