Question /o/, with with modern cars getting being more and more complex with the computers controlling the Ac, push star button and drive by wire.

These modern cars being more reliable than the classic cars aka cars with OB1 and before?

hard to know for sure, they haven't been around long enough

I cannot understand your question.
>>
>>13980195
cars are more complicated now. will they last as long as the old cars of today?
>>
>>13980235
Yes. There have been great advancements in the reliability of electronic and mechanical systems. Even consumer electronics rarely fail outright, today. The electronics used in vehicles are all validated and thus rated for high reliability.

I think its going to be annoying. Id rather buy an empty house, rather than a house with a fucking well old pc in it that I have to use. Does that analogy make sense?

Not at all.

Sorry about that. I tend to make my sentences complicated.

I rented thus charger when I was in Orlando and I thought my own car which is a 09 exl Honda civic was was complicated enough at the time.

Technology ages much faster than "cars" do. Buy any car from the 90s and the first thing you do is rip out the shitty cd/tape player. It will only get worse with the amount of tech "infused" with the car.
>>
>>13980282
There is no reason to replace things that are responsible for the operation of the car. Engine controllers, brake controllers, transmission controllers, etc. You hating the stereo in a car has nothing to do with it being reliable, which it will be.
>>
while i am more of a "tech interested" guy i am always carefull with all the new shit that gets added to cars
i mean ofcourse the quality of life improvement is HUGE, my dad's BMW X5 from 2014 is a freaking tank-boat compared to my '97 SLK mercedes and it feels amazingly comfy driving in it, but at the end of the day I'll stick to my "minimal equipment" pre 2000 car

are computers from the 90s "reliable"
>>
>>13980303
Yes, especially non consumer ones.

>sad

I had pic related, and I traded it in as a deposit on a numbered Hellcat. Then the fucking owner of the stealership buys the hellcat out from under me, and they had sold my car, so I got the cash, but had no car, and the laws in my state didn't really give me any recourse.
>>
>>13980309
I guess with the amount of weird things running xp your probs right
>>
>>13980303

Car computers from the 90's were essentially a collection of several microcontrollers about as powerful as an Arduino. They aren't fast, but they are reliable as shit.
>>
>>13980341
Consumer electronics are not really comparable.
>>
>>13980195
