>NB is like 95% similar to the NA
>NB prices are going down while NA prices are going up
Is there any good reason to choose the NA over the NB when buying a Miata in this day and age other than pop-ups? Both are well below $5K now.

>both are well below $5k
hahahahhahahahahahhaa
>>13978800
Do honestly believe you cannot find an NB Miata for under 5k? I see them go up for 3k recently.
>>13978808
maybe where you are. I like in rust fuck Canada and prices are still ~8k for anything decent. Most "rust free" go around 10k.
>>13978808
i live in florida
average miata is $5k+
>>13978814
I'm in Ontario, you're full of shit. You can pick up a Miata for $2-4000 all day.
Try not looking at dealerships fool.

What city
>>13978796
Yeah, it makes much more financial sense to buy the car you'll lose money on rather than the one you could sell for more than you bought it.
Oh no wait...
>>13978838
In the first 25 posts I found 5...
>>13978838
where at? All my local shit is expensive as fuck, I never look at stealerships.

You don't buy when it's already high you retard

NB is better in every single regard apart from popups and weight (especially the reinforced 01 facelift, the 98-00 NB is almost as lightweight and flabby as the NA).
>>13978898
NB is on par with or lighter than the NA depending on the year, even in heavier years the chassis upgrade more than makes up for it. If the same price there's no reason to buy an NA over NB unless you're obsessed with popups to the point where you drive a worse car
>>13978895
>buying cars as an investment at all
>let alone a car as cheap at launch as a Miata
>>13978904
You would drive a worse car*
>>13978796
>other than pop-ups
Honestly no except for the fact that the NA has a tiny little bit more room inside. In my area, prices are pretty similar though, with NAs being slightly cheaper..
>>13978904
In terms of weight how does a factory reinforced NB stack up against an aftermarket reinforced NA (sway bars, door bars, butterfly braces etc) though?

Fa.m pls
>Buy MX-5 for $3k with hardtop

>Buy MX-5 for $3k with hardtop
Aye, there's the rub.
Where i live NA became more expensive than NB a while ago. Only the past 2000 models and special editions are more expensive.
One of the reason why is that NA is older so if it's in a good shape then somebody had to invest some money and take care of it to keep it that way.
And the other one is that NA is simply more desirable.
It's the iconic one. It's really hard to say no to these fucking pop-ups. It also has some historical value, because it's the car that revived roadsters.
Of course it's not like NB doesn't have it's niche. It looks kinda like mini-viper which is QT in it's own way.
Anyway it's not like you buy these cars for performance. Just because NB is faster doesn't mean much. Both are fun and that's what really matters.
NA only costs half the insurance here in Germany. Basically around 180€ a year, which is a fucking steal.

truly the car deserves the stigma it has

>Florida
Florida has a high demand for miatas because there are so many retirees that want cheap convertibles for the decent weather.
>>13978796
Question.
Can you put the NA front end with popups on the NB?
>>13979913
It might just be cheaper to get the other car than do the conversion
>>13979913
Are you retarded?
You can do whatever you want. But it's going to take fabrication.
A quick google search shows that it "ain't evah been dun befo"

There are no stupid questions. Only stupid answers, like yours, and non-answers like
>>13979920
Asked the question before and never got a straight answer. I don't care enough to look it up myself since I'll never buy an MX-5 because I can't stand convertibles. I was curious though.
>>13979939
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people
can you out the pop ups on an NB body?
>>13979941
Is your mum a bread? Nowconvince me this wasn't a stupid question.

You still will never get the extra 5% back
Headlights go up...
>pop-ups on NB
That's not gonna work. I mean aesthetically. Obviously it's possible to do but NB shape wasn't made to pull it off.
Either you pick a pure miata with pop-ups, or pick a more refined roadster aka NB.
>>13978929
Literally this... i cant find a miata hard top for under $500.
When you're done just buy a soft top for 200 and make your money back
>>13978947
Im buying my miata for 3500 with a hardtop on it... it only has 59k miles too sooo ez deal thanks "racer boy" who really doesnt know much about cars but is repairing his mk4 supra to drive as his second car...

The ND looks like a big car in comparison even though the width difference is a few inches at best.
