the land cruiser is expensive because it came fully loaded from factory, with no additional option available. it also came with a series of off-road technologies which most people dont know about. the stuffs that you cant see or dont know about is the reason why the price is so jacked up.

I just feel like you should only have either off-road capabilities or luxurious features. The two really don't mix that well. If you want both though, I feel like you don't know what you want and you aren't really gonna use either for what they are. With 80k you can buy an actual luxurious vehicle having whatever luxuries you fucking want depending on what the vehicle is. Or with 80k you can buy a vehicle and make it a better off-road vehicle than a brand new Land Cruiser and still have money left over.

i dont disagree that 83K MSRP is a huge price tag, and the idea of mixing luxury and off-road only work well to some extent, but toyota knew this and this car was made specifically for a niche market. The land cruiser is a low-volume production SUV, and they usually sell less than 4000 units in both US and Canada market.

I'm guessing you have never been in a land cruiser or other luxury car. You can't really "dump" luxuries in. You can add features, but the you just have touch screens and gizmos in a cheap shitty plastic interior, or a grand Cherokee trying its best, but still failing.
That being said the land cruiser off road capability is highly over rated. The previously mentioned xk jeep would out perform in many environments. Making it across an African plane isn't that taxing.

The classic fj frames were twice as thick, made from larger c-channel that is boxed from the factory.
