Because who wouldn't want a 200whp peripheral ported rotary Miata?
>>
>>13969079
B2200 uses an M-type transmission like the Miata and NA FC. The bellhousing doesn't interchange with the RX-7TII/B2600/MPV R-type transmission.

You realize that a hardtop makes no difference in a crash, right? The A-pillar lays down flat and the top is an aero component, not a structural component. Your only option for not dying in a rollover is a roll bar mounted far enough back that the seat can't deflect far enough for you to hit it. The Hard Dog Ace and Deuce bars are the only ones that meet these criteria.

putting a cage and a hard top on isn't going to make it safer, or even near as safe as a standard coupe.

I would probably invest the money in a nice LSD, bigger brakes from a later generation or alternative, some nice wide wheels and some superb rubber, some good coil overs and take time and do tests to set it up right for your style of driving and area. Any left over money I would spend on a nice exhaust and/or ITB's, high compression pistons and better con rods.

The result would be a drivetrain that can easily handle the power which would be about 200BHP give or take, ultra grippy with awesome handling and good stopping power.

you could be a fucking dick head and spend all the money on a ghetto engine swap like an LS1, you would spent a lot of money and have to change the whole driveline or modify it, wouldn't have much money left over after, and you would get absolutely fucking slashed by an MX5 with decent tires, suspension and brakes around a technical circuit.

The answer is JV6 swap, you can't do a v8 build for less than 5k unless you do a 5.0 (why.jpg) JV6 lets you use a stock trans and diff. I have a 92 with zero rust and I'm seriously considering this swap. There's a TL type s motor just up the street from where I live. If you want more power you can always twin turbo. 100-200 pounds saved over a v8 swap.

NA: KL swap (2 litre V6 out of an MX-3). Maybe a supercharger from a KJ-ZEM (which should fit), but it depends on the budget. Ransmission will probably need beefin up, I'll new a new clutch, and I'll sure as hell want a new (LSD) rear end). Probably suspension and tires too, but that probably won't be possible with this budget. Maybe later.
NB: Sell it, and buy a Mariner Blue NA. See above.
NC: Sell it, buy a mechanically sound FD, install LPG installation.
ND: Sell it back to the dealer, preorder an Azurro Italia Fiata 124.

yeah well a general rule for compression ratio's is around 20 BHP per tick of compression ratio increase, this varies a lot obviously, so thats not an absolute ultimatum rule. If the later NA 1.8 MX5 provides around 130 BHP with around a 9:1 compression ratio. With high compression pistons from wossner

http://forged-pistons.co.uk/webshop/wossner-automotive-forged-pistons/mazda-forged-pistons/miata-mx-5-1-8-16v-1994-2005-high-compression-wossner-forged-pistons-9078/

it will increase the compression ratio to about 12:1, so roughly a 60BHP increase, not set in stone though.

ITB's are sure to free up a bit more power, 20 BHP is a bit optimistic, but surely over 10 BHP in conjunction with a nice exhaust.

>ITBs
>exhaust
>surely over 10bhp
Maybe, but you're talking 200bhp NA right now without even mentioning head work or cams, you're going a little bonkers here.
>>
>>13979322
I'm a mechanic and I clearly stated that it isn't an ultimatum rule, so first statement by you completely and utterly nullified.

formula one cars of the mid 80's made 1400 BHP from 3 litre naturally aspirated engines, achieved in part by immense compression ratio's and high octane fuel to match.

the general rule isn't silly at all, its what all the mechanics in my garage estimate from through years and years of engine tuning.
>>
>>13969056

Sell it to some re-re that visits /o/ and buy a C5.
>>
Rollbar, some better adjustable height suspensions, good winter and summer tires.
And I guess some kind of added protection to the underside of the car, decent skid plates. My country has horribly mantained roads.

Keep the rest aside for regular running costs.
>>
>>13979370

>>
>>13979352
>formula one cars of the mid 80's made 1400 BHP from 3 litre naturally aspirated engines, achieved in part by immense compression ratio's and high octane fuel to match.
Even if that was true (and it's not!) you would be talking about perfectly designed ports, and ultra light internals, and perfectly designed cams, intakes, exhaust, etc. But it's not true, F1 cars were not making 1400bhp NA from 3 liter engines in the 80s, they were making that kind of power with turbos though.

It is not a general rule anyway. I've been tuning cars for years and I've never heard it in my life, it's ridiculous to call it a general rule.

I'd keep the money; I heard they're increasing the price of AIDS medication and I'm clearly going to need it.

That price includes selling the old wheels. 7-spokes go for $300-400 easily. Even daisies are worth $200 in good shape. As for winter wheels, you can get a set of four steelies for like $40. Tires are $100 each.
