nice, and with a engine?
>what was your first bike
a 1972 honda SL125.
>which one you recommend for the new folk
that's a fine first bike, but I would not recommend buying a nice or new bike for a first one. If I were you, I would buy a cheaper used honda shadow 500 or 600 and ride it for a while. I have a shitty honda 500 and it has been a ton of fun to learn on.

what are you talking about? I bought mine for 800 with money I had to earn working.

A 250-300cc dual sport. Dual sports are the most fun you can have on 2 wheels.

My first bike was just a tiny scooter,
but with a small upgrade it sounds better than any harley I´ve ever heard. Link below:

First bike was a 93 dr350, just for the dirt. First road bike is a 91 honda shadow 600. Pretty fun, light, handles well.
>waiting for paycheck before buying parts
this kills the fun
My first bike was an 83 Honda CM450.
Loved the shit out of that thing.
I'm gonna buy something similar to that soon, maybe a 650

son, what the fuck are you on? better bike for almost half the price.
>pic related was my first motorcycle

My first bike was an Iron 883 too that I bought new last year. I've been really happy with it and have felt like it wasn't too powerful for a complete beginner, but has remained fun after almost 16k miles. Of course I want to upgrade the engine with a 1250 kit in the future, but I would have wanted to do that if I had started on a 1200 too. I'll have it paid off next month and then it will be time to start upgrading exhaust and all that fun stuff.

They sure are
My first bike was a Yamaha ybr 125.
Don't get a harley. You can have a yamaha cruiser, or a Honda instead. They're better machines, cheaper to own and feel just as cool and you won't be giving money to the world's worst company since EA and apple tried to merge
Don't get a Harley dude.
Even the harley owners I know admit that they are maintaince nightmares.
My dad's is a 2013 and has calipers that murders rotors.
He's been riding bikes over 20 years and has owned a little of everything.
His Harley is the one that gave him the most problems by far.
If you want an American cruiser look into Indian or Victory.

Maintenance*
Only picture i can find on the whole of the interwebs (first page of google image search). described by the person who gave me it as a "russian regent", it was a 125, had no battery (started with a gyro and lots of kicking) and i took all the plastics off it and used it as a field bike.
