Debatable. Just because it shares a platform with Ford doesn't totally discredit it. The S-type was built on the same platform as the Thunderbird which is kind of a sick car. The only problem I have with it is that it's not way too long like a Jag should be

Yep. Those are the old style Jaguar keys you see in the XJ-S and I'm my case Series 3 XJ6. And I need that drill just in case I need to pierce the heavens at some point.

I can go take a pic of the Jag but it's going to be shitty since it's dark out now.

Dude, I'm thinking of getting a series III, preferably a Vanden Plas. They are fucking beautiful inside and out. I understand most of the problems with the car, but how have you found the durability and reliability?

For example, I'm seriously considering getting one that has a fine drivetrain but peeling clear coat and using it as a delivery car for fun--then it will be a future parts car. Would probably cost me about 1500 bucks. Any input?

X300 bro btw
>>
>>13969178
Beyond the usual electrical gremlins, its a comfy ride. I went from a Series 3 XJ8 to the X Type. Just couldn't justify keeping it after the tranny lost 3rd gear and the TC was slipping like mad. Still, if its for parts car duty I say go for it. Running and driving for 1500?
>>
>>13969178
I've worked on a bunch of series IIIs and aside from people not keeping up on basic maintainece they are good reliable car. They can go 150-200k miles no problem, Jaguar used the XK engine for a long time because it's a good engine. Now all that being said, I haven't actually driven that car since I got it since it has a blown trans. It runs fine but is stuck in gear, no matter where you shift it. Need to get around to it after my Alfa Romeo.
>>
>>13969251
The one in question has a rebuilt transmission with a repair bill from last year. I'm so fucking tempted. I'm gonna do it in January.

>>13969250
>series 3 XJ8
wat

Yeah, running and driving for 1500. Just has some clearcoat peeling and a small amount of rust in the usual places.

1500 Canadabux.
>>
>>13969265
With a rebuilt trans, if you have the money and want to go get it, get it. As long as you know to keep up on maintainece you should be fine. I've driven plenty and they are comfy as hell, including my own car before it was mine and working properly.

One is IWB and the other is on the ankle. I get in and out of vehicles all day with strangers and an ankle carry is easier yo get to than behind my back. However, when standing the Steyr is an easier, more practiced draw.

Yeah X308.

2002 XJR, the silver one in pic.

I prefer the Ford fob because it actually works from more than 20ft and the back doesn't fall off.

I agree the X300 fob looks much nicer.

Eurokeks. Still beautiful though.

You have a kickass car, have you ever considered chipping it and changing the suspension when the stock gives out? Could make it even more of a sleeper

I wouldn't consider it on any other XJ other than the super V8 which is the same car but the long wheelbase. It's begging for it.
