Driving my dad's 2001 F-350 7.3L diesel with duallies when I was 17. I was the first vehicle making a left hand turn through a green light onto a 6 lane highway. Not from a stop, but light turned green as I approached. Probably 8 cars waiting to my right. A few to my left. Some behind. It was raining. I intended to slide a little bit, gave it some gas and pulled harder left. Easily got as sideways as the skid in OP's pic. Lifted when I realized something was not going right and started correcting the wheel. Was 100% sure I was going to do a super embarrassing 180 in front of about 20 cars. Thing straightened out. I thanked god, and took off.

Just apply the brakes and turn the wheel to shift weight off the rear tires. I have gotten a prius sideways on a sandy road like that. If that isn't enough, steer the car a couple degrees in the opposite direction kind of like you are drawing an S before the turn and it will come loose easily. If that doesn't work, handbrake.

A few days ago took a roundabout way too fast in the rain on a dual carriage way and the car totally broke loose like it's on ice. Big hektik skid about 100ft down the road, so sideways I was looking out the side window.
AWD isn't shit without winter tyres.

I was driving in rain in my Mitsubishi Raider, gunned it too hard on a corner, and lost traction when the road switched from cobble to new pavement.
Didn't even realize I was getting sideways til I was basically drifting, countersteered out of it, drove like a grandma home.
Got new tires the next weekend.

Not really much to it, just practice all the time and eventually you git gud. I am one of those autistic assholes heel-toeing down through every gear at every stop light. My power level is so high that I even double clutch when using a vehicle with an H-shifter.
Jam your heel into a corner of the footwell so it doesn't lift or make your braking inconsistent, use the ball of your foot on the brake, and the right side on the throttle. It may seem tricky and jerky at first but it's actually really easy, you just need to teach your muscles the rhythm and you'll be pro in no time.
