I've been looking at buying a station wagon from the mid to late 90's I'm thinking about the Saturn L series or Subaru Outback any other good wagons out there?
Buick roadmaster is pretty neat
>>13961205
The Saturn L-series is a good car, so long as it's the 4 cylinder. Avoid the V6.
Subaru Legacy and Legacy Outback are great wagons, just beware rear wheel well rust, head gasket issues, and make sure the timing belt was changed on time.
Other good wagons includes the 3 B-body bastards (1991-1996), the Chevrolet Caprice, Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser, and Buick Roadmaster. RWD and with a detuned LT1 Corvette 5.7L V8.
Roadmaster, Honda accord, acura wagon

>acura wagon
name one that isn't a newer TSX
Honda Accord Aerodeck. Beautiful and reliable cars.
B4 Passats are an alright, if boring, option. Especially the 1.9 TDI and 2.slow just refuse to die.

>from the mid to late 90's
Lol jk

Corolla is the best answer
The Legacy wagon is the only real choice here OP.
>Adequate 2000s interior
>Sufficient performance
>Acceptable styling
>Satisfactory fuel economy
>AWD
>Other low level Subaru drivers will wave at you and even WRX drivers if you're lucky
Truly the Shangri-la of cars.
>>13961472
>with a detuned LT1 Corvette 5.7L V8
What do I need to do to have it as fast as a Corvette? Granted it's just a detuned engine, is modifying an ECU enough?
Dont forget A body wagons
>>13962303
Corolla kills it in affordability and reliability
Volvos are pretty good
>>13961205
BRICK
>>13962304
Not an ECU tune isn't enough. You also need to changed the cylinder heads, cam, and possibly pistons. But it's still the same basic engine and shares the same RPO code. IIRC, only the Corvette LT1 got aluminum heads while all other LT1 cars got iron heads. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong
>>13962389
F body were also alum heads, broadcaster, caprice and impala ss had iron.
>>13961472
>make sure the timing belt was changed on time.
How is that an issue? If it hasn't been changed and is overdue, you subtract the cost of changing it from what you offer for the car, and then you change it before you drive your first mile.
>>13962436
>How is that an issue?
>He doesn't know what happens when a timing belt snaps
brick or scooby doo is the only real choice op
>>13962672
I agree with this. if you gotta do a wagon, do a brick or a subaru.
The L series saturn wagon is a dime a dozen
its the delta platform? I think so you can get lowering springs and sway bars and stuff for it and make it ride nice. The only reason I cant recommend anything GM from that time period is basically they were all throw away cars and you will end up in debt even trying to fix the thing by your self. Shit will break every time you turn around. 2000-2007 saturns were garbage from the factory, god help the poor souls who still drive them.

Superior vehicle coming through
>>13962741
>its the delta platform?
Nope. the L-series is on the GM 2900 platform with the Opel Vectra and Saab 900
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM2900_platform
So there's still aftermarket support, but you have to import the shit from Europe.
>>13962303
The second gen's better, especially if you can find a GT.
>>13962329
Mine was $1800 and the biggest problem I've had with it was the knock sensor. Seems pretty cheap and reliable to me.
>>13961205
>GM
>good
1/10 I replied
>>13962789
>hella supertones horns
Ok why is this a thing? They sound like shit. If I'm gonna get an aftermarket horn for my car, I want one that either makes my car sound like an old Cadillac's horn or a "get the fuck out of my way" train horn.
>>13962799
>mistubishi
>good
Pfft, yeah ok
>>13962804
Because the stock ones are pitiful. Have you only heard the hellas in youtube videos? They sound much better in real life. The sound is supposed to be attention grabbing, so it may not be what you're used to.
If you don't like the way the supertones sound, they have a newer one called the sharptone that has a much closer to OEM sound.
>>13961205
Fun fact: The Saturn L300 wagon was faster than a VR6 Passat wagon.
>>13961205
best wagon comin thru
>>13963037
So you're telling me a shit vehicle was faster than a crap vehicle
My dad has one of these saturns.
He was impressed to find out his 3.0 V6 was faster than his 1978 Monte Carlo, the car he had so many years ago. Which he thought was fast.
Easily impressed man, but it does have some pep.
Albeit, he's selling it and buying his wife's toyota camry.
Since that has less problems.
Stagea is the only acceptable option.
>>13963123
oh look. forbidden fruit.
I had a 99 Ford Taurus wagon back in the day it was beast and I had 8 people in it at once
>>13963138
Didn't even realise it's not available in the US. Should have though, it's essentially a Skyline wagon.
>>13963149
Optional rumble seats or no?
>>13963151
America never got the Skyline. The first Skyline ever sold in America was the V35 variant, which was sold as the Infiniti G35.
The Skyline, for the most part, was only ever sold in countries where it was raced.
>>13963171
Yeah, I meant I should have realised it's not allowed because it's a Skyline.
Oh well, only another decade to go for you mericans :)
>not buying a sportback ralliart
>>13963184
R32's just became legal to import. so there's that. Personally, I love the V35. The abilities of the R32/R33/R34 are blown WAY out of proportion
