Fine with CVT's in small hatches and supermini's, but why does it have to be in, say an A3 wagon? Useless.

Sure, great for rollovers, but I tend to spend more time searching for cars tha disappeared in my A-pillar, than I do with my car sitting on it's roof.

I'd rather have spare at all, just a AAA card. Just don't give me a halfassed solution.

Expensive, and offer rubbish traction. I'd rather have a spare. Also, fuck all seasons, just get some nice wheels with summer tires, and a set of steelies with your winter rubber. Stop halfassing this stuff, and stop offering it to consumers whe they buy their car off the lot.

Again, fuck you.

One of the very few thing's I'm OK with is artificial engine noise, wierdly. Engines have gotten quiters, and cars have gotten better at insulation, so I'm okay with venting some sound into the cabin - especially if you can close those vents at will. Silent when you want to, loud when you put your foot down.

In cars with small engines the manual is still faster than CVT or DSG because of it's ability to launch at higher rpm and slip the clutch if necessary.

Point in case the Ford Fiesta 1.6L.
5spd manual is faster than 6spd DSG.

If it's a car designed for the track only like an x-bow sure, but I have no idea why you have any expectation that manufacturers will allow you to turn off ABS.
>>
>>13960942
>no fun allowed ever

TCS sucks dick is snow, so does Electronic Stability Control, and when you do want to play on a track or autocross course, threshold braking will give you far better performance than what ABS allows.

I didn't say anything about ESC and TC, everyone wants to be able to turn those off.
Unless you're amazing at driving, you cannot threshold brake better than ABS.
I see every damn Miata driver get out on the autocross course and inevitably create a smokescreen on at least one corner.
If they had ABS, they wouldn't have flat-spotted their expensive track tires and they wouldn't have locked up their tires prior to the corner.

Nope. Not on the street you can't. On the track, where the surface is clean, consistent and flat? Sure. But not on the street, where the surface is irregular and contaminated. No way. You just cannot react fast enough to constantly changing surfaces.

Part of our driving training takes place on a really slippery track in cars with and without ABS enabled. I achieved shorter braking distance without ABS. Sure that was 11 years ago, not sure how much it has changed since. Fact is that ABS is meant to allow steering, not improve braking. I prefer ABS with EBD for normal driving, invidual braking force for each wheel is a huge advantage in many situations.

Right. Because you have four brake pedals, and modulate every single one as you turn a car while braking and avoiding obstacles.

And you somehow got a car without something that's been standard for quite a long while in most grades of car.

Do you even have a licence?
>>

But you can't stop properly without abs unless you're an octopus and have four brake pedals huur fucking duur

ABS is a net improvement in safety. You aren't as good as you think you are, and the average driver can barely shift from neutral to gear, so you need to get over yourself, Mr. Senna, and act like an adult.
>>
>>13960492

They make it easier to reverse properly, especially for larger cars.

They make it easier to reverse properly if you have a full luggage compartment and you can't see whats directly behind

They make it WAY easier to hook up trailers, especially when its a fully-loaded two tonne trailer full with music equipment that you have no chance of pulling around yourself, so you'll need to park perfectly with the ball beneath the mounting

Ok, so you have good driving habits; be free and customize your own car by disabling the clutch sensor, quit your bitchin.

No one cares about your desire for mechanical buttons. The capacitive buttons are more reliable, cheaper to manufacture, and easier to design into something.

Try memorizing the exact placement of every button on a huge screen like a Model S so you don't have to take your eyes off the wheel to hit it like you can a regular button.

You're the dumb one here, anon. Capacitive touch buttons are easily fouled or rendered inoperable with a mildly wet finger, plus they are soft buttons, and thus are interpreted by circuitry instead of being binary. A mechanical button can have a life of hundreds of thousands of cycles, and can be easily sealed so that it cannot be fouled or shorted closed.

Question: if soft buttons such as capacitive touch buttons were superior in reliability and haptics, why are they completely unheard of in the aviation industry, where haptics and reliability are of the utmost importance?
