I talked to an airport shuttle driver about this. It's because the Lincoln Town Car was discontinued. There is no suitable replacement other than a Tahoe or Escalade.

You know what Lincoln advertised as its livery vehicle to replace the Town Car? The MKT. Not joking, they made limo versions, hearses, and even made a "Town Car" branded MKT. Maybe its because I live in West Florida, but I haven't seen any livery services at all use the MKT, and I barely see people drive them to begin with. It has to be Lincoln's worst selling model, even though it seems like it would be a big hit because of its status as a full-size crossover.
At least Lincoln looks like they're finally exiting what has to be one of the worst periods in the company's long history, as Ford finally cares about them again and is putting actual effort in rebuilding the brand's status.

I've heard the engine on the Continental is interesting. 3.0L twin turbo V6 capable of producing 400hp.
As for being AWD and Taurus body, at least its a step up from being a blatant-ass rebadged Taurus like the MKS is.
