Hi /o/I'm currently converting a T-65 X-Wing star fighter to all-thruster-hyperdrive, using a an Isu-Sim SSP05 hyperdrive generator and running the Konesayr TLB power converter upside down.
The engine I'll be using is a Quadex Series 44 power core, which I will be detuning with a single Incom N2I-4 generator due to New Republic hyperspace regulations.I'm currently cutting the power core tunnel, and my hydrospanner is a piece of shit, does anyone have any tips here? I've gone through 6 of these fucking ion cores, all they do is explode into pieces.

Given the political realities of the 1960s and 1970s, Project Orion would have never lasted. Just like the idea of using nuclear explosions for excavation and mega-engineering projects.
What would have and still could be possible are Nuclear Thermal Rockets, which were promising in test fires performed by NASA, but were cancelled by budget cuts as the 1970s rolled in and politicians didn't want to spend the same amount of money they spent on the Staurn project.
