pretty much, a lot of newer leathers are doing that because of a flame retardant that's being added to meet government regulations. The GT-R had the same thing start happening to them after the 2012 model year. I've even seen this happen with fairly new porsches and BMWs. As usual things always turn to shit when the government forces someone to fix a problem that really isn't a problem.
If I'm already in a situation that leather burning is a problem I have far bigger issues because the rest of the plastics and carpets in the car are surely in flames by this point in time.
